  1. CandleImageLarry and I want to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Gloria, Denny’s wife and his daughter and grandchildren. Denny was the first neighbor to introduce himself to us when we moved into the neighborhood. We always enjoyed his humor and his and Gloria’s company whether it be one of their home parties for the neighborhood or a game of Mexican Train. Our grandson Noah admired both Denny and Gloria and has his own fond memories of time spent with them at their home. Memories of love and friendship are treasures to carry with you always. We have many of Denny. Love follows us, no matter how far. Sorrow is a fleeting emotion, at this time of sadness. Gloria and family have hope in tomorrow, have faith in the everlasting, and take comfort in the love of friends and family.
    Sincerely,
    Larry and Jennifer Belcher

  2. Gloria and Family,
Before he was a permanent fixture on 60-E, aka the War Wagon, Dennis was in Area One Task Force. I met Dennis in June 1972 when I arrived in the unit. What a stud! He epitomized what it meant to be a Task Force ranger. A solid guy in every respect. I learned so much from him in my time as a relief man on the War Wagon. Not just about weapons and tactics, but about life and how to treat people. I revered those weeks we spent at Great Lakes, just because of the interactions we would have with other TF/SOG personnel from different areas. RIP, my friend. You truly made a difference. Here’s hoping we’ll meet again whenever the Good Lord calls me home.

  3. Very hard to put into words what Dennis meant to me. He was my partner for 14 yrs. But more than that he’s was my big brother, mentor, best friend and someone who I always knew would cover my back no matter what.Dennis made being a police officer an easy job because he made 8 hrs fly by every day.Dennis you will be missed and never forgotten Thank you for everything. Jack

  4. CandleImageSorry for the loss of your loved one we will all miss him he was a great person. If there is anything we can do please let us know you are deeply missed and loved . Words, however gentle, can not take your loss away Still, may this note of sympathy help comfort you today.

  5. CandleImageDennis was more than a brother-in-law and uncle to the Sanders and Shepherd family. He was someone who always greeted you with a smile and made you feel that you were important to him. He would give you the shirt off his back and was there when you needed help. He was well liked by everyone he met and made friends everywhere he went. We have fond memories of taking a Caribbean Cruise, going on sports car rides, going to car shows, baseball games, sightseeing in Chicago, and many more. We would enjoy time simply sitting around discussing the problems of the world. He was always there to give big hugs and guidance to his nieces. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all of us. He will remain in our hearts and minds forever!
    With Love,
John, Sharon, Michael, Bentley and Shelby Sanders
    Tami, Sarah and Jenni Shepherd

  22. CandleImageWithout a doubt, one of the good guys, rest in please my friend until we meet on the other side🙏🏻😢

  23. Dennis, you were one of the most dedicated and loyal officers i have ever had the pleasure working with – you were always looking to help others learn, stay safe and advance while asking nothing for yourself in return. There wasn’t a soul in the Task Force, Special Operations, Gang Crimes, and back to Special Operations that didn’t look up to you and look towards you for advice and friendship. You were certainly one of a kind and they sure don’t make ’em like you anymore. Gloria, so sorry for your loss, and take comfort knowing he is in a much better place.

God Speed my friend E Fred

    • CandleImageMy sincere condolences go out to the Cappetto family on the passing of Dennis. He was an exceptional police officer who possessed a wealth of knowledge and always ready and willing to help. God Bless you Dennis and Rest in Peace !

  24. CandleImageI wish to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to the Gloria, Denny’s wife and his children and grandchildren. I first met Denny 50 years ago when we were both Chicago Police Officers in the Task Force. Denny was working in Area 1 and I was working in Area 4. We would kid each other who were better, Area 1 or Area 4. We ran together and worked out together at the Police Gym. We became partners working 60-E, The War Wagon together. I can’t tell you the laughs we had together. When I got promoted to Detective and later on to Sergeant, Denny was one of the first guys to come up to me and congratulate me on my promotions. He was generously happy for me. Not only was he a good Police Officers, but he was also truly one of the GOOD GUYS. Gloria, thank you very much for taking your time today and calling me on the phone and talking to me. That meant a lot to me. You and your family will be in my prayers. Denny rest in peace my friend, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. Charley
