Deborah Kay (Ross) Rogers, 71, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away just before midnight on March 4, 2025, after a lengthy and courageous struggle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson’s Disease.
Deborah was born on April 5, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Jerry Donald and Betty Jo Ross. She was still an infant when she first met five-year-old Michael Rogers, the son of dear friends. Five years later, both families moved to São Paulo, Brazil as missionaries, and it was then the story of their love really began. They only ever had eyes for each other, and eventually married on September 5, 1970. They were married for 40 beautiful years before lymphoma claimed Michael’s life on December 25, 2010. Mike and Deb had four children, Andrea, Phoebe, Jennifer and Brent.
Deb’s life was centered around hospitality and creating beauty and she did this in countless ways; as a pastor’s wife and homemaker, a cake decorator and seamstress, a crafter and interior decorator, a personal chef, and finally, working as a cheesemonger at her son-in-law’s cheese shop, Springside Cheese. Deb loved music – both listening and performing – and had a truly beautiful singing voice. She played piano and accordion in her younger years, and sang in and directed various choirs throughout her life. She adored her grandchildren and loved being their “Nonna.” Whatever she was doing, Deb brought energy, artistry, and light with her.
Deborah is survived by her children, Andrea (Dean) Alfonso of Pueblo, Phoebe (Joseph) Graves of Witney, England, Jennifer (Keith) Hintz of Pueblo West, and Brent (Judy) Rogers of Dubois, Wyoming; her grandchildren, Sage, Jordan and Lucas Alfonso, Eva, Lottie and Seb Graves, Michael, Duren, Linden, Ember and Levi Hintz, and Jack, Bristol and Bridger Rogers; and siblings, Aileen (Russell) Woolbright of Epping, New Hampshire, Donna (Mark) Cox of Greencastle, Indiana, Jerry (Leanne) Ross of Pinckneyville, Illinois, and James Ross of Pueblo. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Michael; her dear parents, Don and Betty Ross; and her lovely parents-in-law, Eldwyn and Alice June Rogers and brother-in-law, Paul Rogers.
Deborah’s funeral will be held in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel (1317 N Main St, Pueblo, Colorado), on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10 AM, with a graveside ceremony and reception to follow. I am sad to hear of my friend’s passing. She is one of those people that I instantly liked and wanted to have as my friend. Kindness, love and grace flowed from her. I can see she has left a legacy behind as I see these some qualities in her family. She certainly made the world a better place with her presence. May our Heavenly Father comfort each of you as you need it, May His peace be in your hearts.
Debbie was a shining light in a dark world. She lived her Christianity to all she met. I considered her a dear friend and sister in Christ. Our families spent many happy times together.
Heaven is sweeter with her there and her family and friends will mourn her loss. Prayers for all the grieving in her large and precious family. She is home!

Beautiful!! I miss her so much and will always carry her in my heart! There are no words when you lose a sibling! Praying for all of you! Thanking our Lord for His grace and that we will see her again some day.
