Clarence “Chuck” Orr Jr., age 85, of Pueblo West, Colorado, passed away on the morning of Nov. 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on Feb. 29, 1940, a leap year, in Lamar, Colorado, to Clarence and Fern Orr, and he always took great joy in being a leap year baby.
Chuck grew up in Lamar, Colorado, where his love for gardening began at a young age. Together with his parents and six siblings, he helped grow and sell produce on their family’s three-acre lot. Those early years taught him the value of hard work and dedication, lessons that shaped the way he lived his entire life.
On Feb. 4, 1962, Chuck married his loving wife, Carol Pfingston Orr. They shared 64 years of marriage filled with love, faith, and adventure. Together, they had five children (Greg, Chuck, Johnny, Trudy, and Tara). Chuck is preceded in death by his sister, Dory and his beloved son, Johnny, whose memory he carried in his heart always. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his four children, Greg, Chuck (Michelle), Trudy, and Tara (Joey); five siblings, Mary, Roma, Dale, Richard and Mark; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He cherished his time with his family and the many memories they shared together.
In 1967, Chuck and Carol moved to Salida, Colorado, after purchasing Acme Electric. He and his wife owned and operated the business for 43 years. Their work included both residential and commercial projects, such as installing intersection lightning and electrical runway lighting at every airport throughout the state of Colorado. He raised his family and ran his business in Salida, Colorado, before retiring to Pueblo West, where he continued to share his time and talents with his community.
A man of strong faith, Chuck lived a life full of adventure and curiosity. He loved hunting and traveling, which took him on adventures to several continents. He also enjoyed raising homing pigeons and tending his garden. Chuck was also a founding member and elder of Majestic Baptist Church, where he devoted his time to service and leadership.
From the moment he woke up to the moment he went to bed, Chuck squeezed the most he could out of every single day. He lived with purpose, faith, and joy, inspiring everyone around him to do the same.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Majestic Baptist Church, 494 E Hemlock Dr., in Pueblo West.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
Chuck will be deeply missed by his family, friends, community and church family. His light, kindness, and good-hearted humor will forever remain in their hearts.
