Shirley Levinson, 90, passed away May 12, 2016. Survived by children, Sherry (Dennis Wait) Levinson, Mark (Melissa Brown) Levinson and Karen (Avi) Grossman; grandchildren, Aaron, Hannah, Jason, Tamara and Maya. Preceded in death by husband, Dr. Morris Levinson. Shirley was a member of CF&I Local 2102 and was a case worker with the Dept. of Social Services. She was also a member of the Democratic party, Democratic Socialist of America and AFSCME. Graveside service, 11 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the B'Nai Jacob Cemetery. Shirley was a great warrior for social justice and the rights of others. She has done a lot of great things for many people. Sending my condolences to her family.
I knew Shirley as Director of the Department of Social Services.She was one of the first members of the staff that I met in 1967. I remember her as a passionate and dedicated caseworker.
