Passed away 6/21/2024
Ruth is survived by her son, Jack Tully of Pueblo and Colorado Springs, CO; her brother, Stuart (Kathie) Rothman of Boardman, Ohio; sister, Ellyn (David) Roberts of Canton, Ohio. She was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Norma Rothman of Youngstown, Ohio; her nephew, Jeremy Rothman of Youngstown, Ohio and her dear friend, M.J. Wardle. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Allie (Anthony) Jania, Hannah Roberts, Jamie (Alex) Carsel; and great nephews, Nathan and Corey Jania.
Ruth was born on February 19, 1962, in Youngstown, Ohio. Even from a young age Ruth was always surrounded by a wide and wonderful group of friends. From her time in girl scouts, to her extensive athletic endeavors, she developed life long friendships. Her knack for making great friendships stayed with her wherever she moved and whatever work or activities in which she was involved. Her moves included stops at Kent State University, Youngstown State University, and the U.S. Army, which led to the start of a career in her first IT/Project management job with MCI in Reston ,Virginia. Her career took her to Cary, North Carolina, then back home to Cleveland, Ohio, building working relationships and more life long friendships. She eventually moved to Colorado Springs, made it her home, started a family and developed more great lifelong relationships. Eventually she changed careers and took a position at Jack’s school as a PARA professional, working with pre school and special needs kids. Shortly after becoming ill, she moved to Pueblo, CO where she fought hard, defied all the odds, and in so doing was able to see and support her son in graduating high school and starting a career as an electrician. In Pueblo, she again forged new friendships, but this time with all her neighbors in Bella Vista, who provided her with much love and support throughout the end of her journey.
Her family would like to thank all of her friends for the wonderful support they gave her and all of us, from as far back as grade school, and throughout her entire life. This is a testament to the way Ruth led her life and the way she would like to be remembered.
Ruth’s memorial service will held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel at 1317 North Main St. Pueblo, CO 81003. The service will also be live streamed below her photo on this obituary page.

From our first hellos in the hallway at MCI Reston to getting reacquainted and becoming fast friend in Colorado Springs, no matter what we were going through, you had my back and me yours. You have been so brave and determined when fighting through your illness and always keeping Jack in the forefront of your heart and mind. I will miss you forever but believe in my heart we will reconnect in heaven. I love you forever. Now, we have Jack’s back.
The Wardle family will always remember here friendship with our Mary Jane. She was like a sister to her always. Much love to Jack and her family.
Pete/Jack, I love you both and pray for you during this difficult time. We are here for you and celebrate Ruth’s positive impact on our lives. Thank you and all of her family and friends for providing her support to fight as long as she has… you have all undoubtedly made a difference in helping her endure.
Ruth was such a dear childhood friend, from classmate, from track team, from basketball team, from summer basketball camps, from parties at her childhood home, the memories are numerous and wonderful. Ruth was a wonderful thoughtful kind and generous person. I admire your strength, courage and grace over these last several years battling this horrible disease. To Jack, she loved you so much and fought hard to be with you as long as she could. May her memory be eternal ❤️
Already miss you Ruth
Godspeed
In awe of the strength and determination Ruth had to continue on this journey for such an extensive time…. Memories of our boys growing up in elementary school together, as well as the way she doted on my youngest and was adored by us all… this world is definitely a little darker without her sweet smile and kind spirit. Jack, we love you and keep you close to our hearts during this loss.

Another gone too soon. RIP Ruth.
In prayer!!!
I had the pleasure of coaching Ruth in basketball at Boardman High School in the late 70’s. I reconnected with her by way of Facebook in the last year. I’m so sorry I didn’t have a conversation with her recently. She was a great person to coach and always worked so hard. And her battle and positive outlook inspired me so much. She is in my heart forever.
