Richard Alan Swartwood, 73, passed away February 24, 2023. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Lana Gourdin; Valerie Babitz, mother of Ron (Nicole) Swartwood and David (Jennie) Swartwood; step-sons, Kenneth Stacks and Kris (Tiffany) Stacks; siblings, Larry (Marilyn) Swartwood, Melva Jean (Fred) Jones; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the West Park Fire Department and our adopted son, Danny (Laura) Cerdero. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Helen Swartwood and his best dogs in the world, Laddie and Spider. Born March 23, 1949, in Pueblo. He was a general contractor in the building trades. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and talking to people and his family. Member of the Southern Colorado Horseman’s Association, Pueblo Municipal Shooters, 4-H; Pueblo Homebuilders Association, and Pueblo General Contractors. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A celebration of his life from 2 to 5 p.m. June 18, 2023, at his home, 423 Park Drive. Interment will be in the Cathedral Bluffs Cemetery in Rifle, Colorado at a later date.
