Reese Nettles, 55, passed away, surrounded by family and friends on, February 5, 2024. He fought a
courageous battle against liver cancer for 2 years.
Survived by wife of 24 years, Debbie Nettles.
Children: Mason, Hunter, Acacia, Mariah (Dakota) O’Brate and Jessica Nettles
Grandchildren: Declan Kelly, Noah and Riley O’Brate
Reese was born on September 21, 1968 in Eugene, Oregon to Marvin Nettles Sr. and Stella Dean. In early
1998 Reese and his wife, Debbie, began their journey in Colorado Springs, CO. Early in their marriage,
they traveled the country together during his time as an over the road truck driver. He loved new
adventures and was a jack of many trades. He spent a period of time, working as a mortician, a waste
collector, a lumberjack and a heavy equipment operator. He has worked in the oil fields, built fences,
decks and homes throughout many areas in Colorado. Debbie and Reese, were a complimentary team
and together, they built many businesses that flourished. During the last 10 years they have spent time
building and growing Aspen Steel & Fabrication, Inc. with their son, Hunter. Reese also had an incredible
love for this country and served our nation for many years as a special forces soldier in the US army.
The family settled in Pueblo West 18 years ago. They have always been community oriented. Reese has
served on the board of the Pueblo West Chamber, the Pueblo Rangers Soccer Club and has participated
as a poultry superintendent for the Pueblo County Fair and volunteered for various local 4h clubs. He
served as the President and then Past worthy President of the Pueblo West Eagles 4471. He had a love
of life, of people and was always the first to step up when anyone needed help.
He had many hobbies. He loved gardening, wine making, dirt bike riding, participating in trail riding with
the Razors, skiing, golfing, grilling and BBQ competitions. If you were lucky enough to experience his dj-
ing and singing, it will forever be etched in your memory! He was also an avid golfer, and together with
his wife, built the family’s home on Desert Hawk Golf Course in 2018. Friendships on and off the course
were typically built upon his sense of humor, his love of music, his widely relatable stories and his ability
to make a stranger laugh. Actually, Reese knew no strangers!
Reese was heavily involved in Acacia’s and Hunter’s sports. From baseball, to soccer, to volleyball,
basketball, golf and shooting sports. Reese was always involved in any way he could with the children
and became a man that many teammates would look up to. To this day, those teammates are more like
extended family.
