Ray Aldon 'Cowboy' Smith, 82, passed away at home on July 18, 2017. He was born in Holly, Colorado on February 18, 1935, to Ray and Mabel Smith. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Bonnie Bland; and brother-in-law, James Bland of Wyoming. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; children, Russell Smith, Daniel Smith, Michelle (Rod) Davis; grandsons, Brandon (Christina) Davis and Reece Davis; great-grandsons, Allen Davis and Haydon Davis, all in Colorado. Also survived by his niece, Debbie (Rod) Rosacker of Wyoming; nephew, Patrick Bland (Michelle) of South Carolina; several in-laws including, Kathleen Wilhite of Tennessee; Edward (Gwyn) Prijatel of Colorado; John (Dana) Prijatel of Kansas; Patricia Prijatel (Joe Kucera) of Iowa; nieces and nephews, Donna Kay Wilhite of Mississippi; Denise Chapman of Mississippi; Matthew Prijatel of California; Patrick Prijatel of Colorado; Alycia Habig of Kansas; Joshua Kucera of Turkey; Ellen Askew of Vermont; and many other nieces and nephews. Ray leaves behind many caring relatives, neighbors and friends in Colorado and Arkansas, as well as at St. Mary Church, including brother Knights in the Knights of Columbus Council #557, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. In addition to being a 4th Degree Knight, Ray was a member of ProLife of Southern Colorado and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #145. Ray was a very loving and kind-hearted soul, he spent his younger years in farming, ranching, and welding. He loved Classic Country Music, drives in the country and to Westcliff, Pepsi, anything chocolate, cigars, and Arkansas. He will be missed. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Gaide, nurse Rachael, and Dr. Nazami for their patience and care. In lieu of flowers send donations to ProLife of Southern Colorado, 928 Jackson, Pueblo, CO 81004. Rosary recitation at 10:00am Wednesday, July 26th, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial.
