Phyllis Louise Hull Gould, passed on Aug. 23, 2022, at the age of 101 years. Phyllis was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Cecil Hull; husband, Duane; siblings, Margery Nielsen and William Hull; and grandson, Kyle Gould.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, Darrell Hull; her children, Richard (Mary) Gould, Janet Thielemier, David Gould, Julianne Luther and Stephen (Sharon) Gould; her five grandchildren, Ashley (Cooper) O’Brian, Erik (Wendy) O’Brian, Brian (Amy) Thielemier, Aaron (Renea) Thielemier and Neal Gould; her six great-grandchildren, Jacob O’Brian, Tyler Thielemier, Cooper Thielemier, Carter Thielemier, Finley Thielemier and Anna Thielemier; and special family friends, the John Kunstle family and Jennifer Landrum.
Phyllis was born in Edgar, Neb. to parents Walter and Cecil Hull, and grew up in Nebraska. After high school graduation, she attended Bryan College of Health Sciences in Lincoln, Neb. where she earned her Registered Nurse degree. She then joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and was stationed at Peterson Air Force base in Colorado Springs, Colo. There she met Duane Gould, an officer in the U.S. Air Force. They were married on Sept. 26, 1943, and within two weeks Duane was sent overseas in service during WWII. Upon Duane’s return 23 months later he and Phyllis moved to Pueblo, bought a home and started their family. One of Phyllis’ greatest joys was raising her five children. Baking (famous sour cream twists) and gardening (growing tomatoes and roses) were also high on that list. Phyllis was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church and her beloved Chapter BQ P.E.O.
Her family sincerely thanks the Assisted Living staff at Pueblo Primrose Retirement Community for their care of our mother over the past 4½ years, as well as Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their care and support of our mother and extended family over the past several months.

Dear beloved Gould family❤️
How to capture the right words to express the combination of grief for your loss snd celebration for her release. We are so sorry for the loss of GG. She was one of my very best friends and all of you our beloved extended family. Thank you for sharing her with us. We grew up with all of your love, kindness, wisdom and worldview from the seats around her coffee table.
Her vibrant spirit is so completely part of my world, there are very few moments when her influence is not part of my day.
Please take good care of yourselves during this hard time and know we are surrounding you with love, empathy and indeed celebration of her beautiful, memorable life❤️
We love each of you so much.
Love,
John, Amy, James and Rowan
I loved and admired Aunt Phyllis! For a long time I said I wanted a big family because of her and the love I felt in your family. She was such an accepting person and knowledgeable on so many topics. I always enjoyed listening to her and my mom reminisce about the Hull family. Thinking of all of you during this time.
Dave:
So sorry to read your mom’s passing. She had a long & blessed life.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Dearest Julie and David and family, so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I remember her as a kind, vibrant and often very funny lovely woman! We still have her roast beef recipe-the one with Cola, I think? She kept a hearth and home to be envied, and I always enjoyed my time at your house. I know she had a wonderful and graciously long life, spent caring for her family and friends. My sincere condolences.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and for sharing the wonderful memories of our mom. Food was only one of the ways she nurtured all of us and our friends were always included in that.
On behalf of my late parents, Bill & Jackie, I express the condolences of our family to the Goulds. I was fortunate to visit with Phyllis about 4 months ago. Her spirit was remarkable. Mom, too, cherished chapter BQ, and particularly her long friendship with Phyllis.
Dave so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She has left quite a legacy. May God comfort you during this time of sorrow. May she RIP
Thanks Shirley. As dedicated dog lovers, I wish mom could have met Buckley. She finally has.
Dave,
We are so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. She lived a long life, but no matter how long someone lives, the loss is still the same. We remember her well and can still see her in the gift shop helping with our purchasing decisions. She was such a sweet lady.
May her memory be eternal.
Praying for the comfort of your family during this time of loss.
Pete and Susan Juba
Thanks Pete and Sue. Love you guys. I know you are loving Texas.
Phyllis will be very missed. She was a wonderful woman and made great Cinnamon Rolls ! I’ll never forget her patience trying to teach me how to make them.
Next time you guys come up we’ll make mom’s cinnamon rolls, or maybe her chocolate cinnamon rolls. Love you!
Aunt Phyllis was a wonderful person. I would like to extend my condolences to my cousins. My thoughts are with each of you.
We’ve come quite a ways since those days in Fairbury and the stopover in Russell. Love you guys.
