Phyllis Jean Hilmes Edwards, 73, passed away October 19, 2019. Survived by daughter, Cheri (Greg) Chamberlain; son, Richard “Rick” (Lisa) Cannon; brother, Donald (Karen) Hilmes; and great friend, Beth Ripke. Preceded in death by parents, Howard and Doris Hilmes; and special dog, Shadow “Pooh.” Phyllis was born on May 20, 1946, at St. Mary-Corwin in Pueblo, Colo. She worked at the Colorado State Hospital for almost 35 years, starting as a Psych Tech and working her way to an RN. Phyllis was an avid Denver Broncos fan, enjoyed bowling, scuba diving and traveling to Hawaii and Mexico (her favorite place on earth.) She collected cook books, did excellent needlepoint work, was a member of Girl Scouts of America, Rainbow Girls #7 and OES #144. Special thanks to the Parkview Medical ICU for all the awesome care they took of her the last three weeks and to Belmont Lodge for taking such great care of her the last three years, and all they love they gave her. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th Street, Pueblo, CO 81003.
