Mary 'Elaine' Matykiewicz, 83, finished her earthbound journey Oct. 7, 2018. Elaine's journey started in Iowa and then on to Columbia Heights, Minn. until the family moved to Pueblo West, Colo. She loved her Aerobics and the friendships she made at Nova Fitness. Reading books and sewing were her passion, and she was inquisitive about everything. She was so loved! Elaine lost her battle with cancer which she fought with quiet dignity and strength. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Joe; daughters, Valerie (Casper Cacciatore) Matykiewicz and Laurie (Keith) Poor of Pueblo West; grandson, Vince Bradley of Ohio; step-grandchildren, Lisa and Gina Cacciatore of Denver; great-grandson, Hayden Bradley of Ohio; siblings, Johnnie Schroder, Dennis (Marlys) Clark, Virginia (Don) Hulsing and Arland (Mary Margaret) Clark. Preceded in death by parents Frances and Raymond Clark, L. Schroder and Pat Schroder. Elaine cherished her friendships with Patty Koke and MaryVonn Cleveland. I remember Laurie calling her Mom like she was everyone’s Mom. I always got a kick out of that.Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this hard time.

  4. To the Matykiewicz Family, my heartfelt condolences to your family in your time of sorrow. I knew the family as a friend of Laurie’s growing up in PW. Elaine was such a beautiful person, I would see her from time to time in the store’s and still such a sweet soul. You all are in my prayers.

  5. I am so very sorry to hear about Elaine ‘s passing. She was such a sweet, wonderful lady. We all loved seeing her every morning in step class at Super Nova and we were lucky to have known her. She will be greatly missed by all that new her!

    I always heard you lit the sky up when it involved anything with Hayden. Im so very glad you were able to meet him. I watched you with him and I could of watched it forever. You could see the joy and love in your face. You will be missed. Now you can watch your little Hayden with the best seat in the house. Watch over that little guy for me! Fly them beautiful wings ❤

  8. Joe, Val and Laurie, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a remarkable person. I have known her most of my life and she was always there for me. She was like a mom to me. Vince was so lucky to have a grandma that loved him so much and would also do anything for him. I am so happy that mom and dad and myself got to see her while they were visiting. We talked of old times laughed and had a wonderful few hours together. I wish at the time I would have known it would have been the last time. She never judged and was always had a calmness about her. She will be sadly missed but never, never forgotten.

Grandma I miss you so so much, you are one of the toughest women on this earth, you have gone through so much in the past year I’m so happy we came to see you in September, you looked so pretty you actually looked great. I’m happy that you are my grandma you will be missed by all of us I love you with all my heart and I know you will be watching over me. Thank you for being the best grandma ever
