Mark Steven Gazette, 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep into the arms of his Lord and Savior on August 13, 2025. Mark was born on October 24, 1958, to James and Eleanor Gazette in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in Minnesota. He moved to Colorado in 1979, where he met the love of his life, his wife/soul mate. They were married in 1980, and shared 45 wonderful years together. Their love story carried them through every season of life. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters. Mark was a man of deep faith, integrity and truth. He had enduring love for his family and friends where he touched countless lives. Mark loved playing with his grandchildren, leading Biblical citizenship classes, facilitating Bible studies with his wife, teaching people about patriotism, family gatherings and playing his many guitars. He was involved in his church at FWC. Mark had a deep generous heart; faithfully worked hard and sacrificed for his family and lived with a deep love for his country. His legacy of love, sacrifice, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him. He worked at Dist. #60, CSUP and CAE as a physical plant director. He enjoyed the many people he worked with. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Marjorie Atteberry; and sister-in-law, Sandy Javornik. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Gardino, Jaclyn (Beau) Vaught, Christine (Andrew) Ritterling; grandchildren, Ryland, Acacia, Callen and soon to be born, Natalie Ritterling, Brooklyn and Levi Vaught; sister, Dorothy (Bob) Babcock; brother, James Gazette; father-in-law, Richard Atteberry; brothers-in-law, Art (DeAnne) Atteberry and Ed (Veronica) Javornik; numerous nieces and nephews; aunt and uncles; special friends, Mack and Alicia Martinez. The celebration of life will be held at a later date, pending the arrival of baby, Natalie. As Mark would say, “Dabar Shalom” complete your mission just as he did. Hi Carol, I just saw that Mark has moved on to see his Savior. I had no idea.
He always had a smile on his face and always seemed so gentle and kind.
There was no doubt that he loved his family!
I am so sorry for your loss.
Lots of love and prayers are sent!
Dearest Carol Gazette- I had no idea that Mark had passed. I genuinely enjoyed working on the CSU-Pueblo board with Mark! Furthermore, I am honored to have been a part of Jaclyn (Gazette) Vaught’s education and professional development at CSU-P as a BSN, RN! You and Mark raised such strong and dedicated daughters!! In knowing your family- I can see and feel The Holy Spirit’s Presence among you all! I share your strong Christian Faith! Please accept my tearful and heartfelt condolences! I love you and vow to keep you all in prayer! Mark is truly with Our Savior– the eternity we all seek! May The Lord comfort you all until you embrace Mark once more, in The Savior’s presence!! 💜🙏🏻✝️
