Guestbook

  1. Lucy (Wilson) Blakey was my late mother’s best friend at Kent State University in the late 1940s and early 1950s. I’ve found many pictures of their parties. I’m so sorry to learn that Lucy has passed away. Lucy became a much-loved teacher and moved from Ohio to Colorado. When I was a small boy, she returned to Ohio to visit my mother. I’ll always remember her advice to me if I ever visited the Four Corners area of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico: “If you get down on all fours, you can be in four states at once!” I haven’t been there yet, Lucy, but if I do, you can bet I’ll get down on all fours.

  2. John Vellar, Lucy’s home health nurse before her ltc admission. She could always regale a good story about her travels with her husband and friend and neighbor. Loved Lucy and visited her every so often. But this time it was a while and I missed her. Im so sorry Lucy. You will aleays be thought of. Respectfully John Vellar nurse

  3. “Aunt” Lucy was a treasured member of our extended family. Outgoing, independent, adventurous. We loved hearing all the stories about her elementary kids, her family and her many cousins! No one was a stranger for long if Lucy was in the room. We will treasure our many memories of holiday gatherings and camping trips. She will be missed by all of her adopted nieces and nephews.

  4. Mrs. Blakey was both my brother’s and my 4th grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary in the mid-1980s. We still always remembered and talked about her with our family as adults. I will never forget her female Black Widow spider, hearing about her hiking the Colorado 14ers with her husband (and being so impressed), and learning about the Colorado outdoors, spelunking, etc. Such an amazing and inspirational person.
