LaVonne Florence (Jacobsen) Mueller, 87, passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on January 12, 1938, to George and Minnie Jacobsen. Her family moved to Wisconsin when she was young and lived in the Lake Como area on a small family farm. She was one of four sisters and a brother. During high school she worked on the year book committee, as a car-hop at Jovelle’s, and graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1956. She was the first generation in her family to attend college and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1960.
LaVonne married Raymond Walter Mueller in 1958. Her first son was born while in college and then she went on to raise three sons as a stay at home mom. After raising her children she moved to Colorado with her husband Raymond and worked a full career (31 years) as a medical technologist, first at Saint Thomas Moore in Canon City and later at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo. After retiring from her medtech career, she worked as a substitute teacher for District 70. In her late 70’s she served as a Visiting Angel, and later helped maintain the Xeriscape Garden in Pueblo West until she could no longer get around.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; oldest sister, Marian; and younger brother, Vernon.
She is survived by her older sister, Lois; younger sister, Carol; sons, Mark (Patty), Stephan, and Carl (Angela); and grandchildren, Morgan, Ella, and Peter.
LaVonne was an awesome mother, woman, and community member. She will be greatly missed.

I remember when I first met LaVonne and family when they came to Colorado. At the time, I only remember knowing that they came from my dad’s side of the family. I didn’t know then how much LaVonne would come to mean to our family. She was a true friend, driving from Pueblo to visit my mom on a regular basis. She also came to our sons’ high school graduation. We enjoyed our drives to Pueble to see LaVonne. Though we never met her commitment for caring, she taught us the value of taking time for others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with LaVonne’s family.
I never had the privilege of directly knowing LaVonne, but evidence of her grace and wisdom seemed to shine brightly in Carl – whom I do know. And I’m sure is bestowed among many others. Godspeed to her spirit and family.
We always looked up to Aunt Lavonne and Uncle Ray. The whole family has lost another piece but we will remember their smiles, laughs and goodness. Much love to Mark, Steve, Carl and the rest of the family.
So many great memories in Pueblo West on Spaulding. Ray and Lavonne were always welcoming and full of life. Mark, Steve and Carl my condolences to you all and the days and moments spent with you guys are precious and won’t be forgotten. She always made me feel like one of the family. Blessed to have known her. Love you my brothers.
