Kenneth Earle Minor, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018 at Brookdale El Camino in Pueblo, Colorado. He moved there in August 2017 after living his entire life in the Denver area. Kenneth was born on January 7, 1926. Kenneth was proceeded in death by his cherished wife of 66 years, Lois Lucille (Armstrong) Minor, his brother Donald, his father Floyd Albert (Bert) Minor, his mother Elsie Margaret (Weddle/Minor) Turnage (Ray), and his step mother Ruth Glaskin.
Kenneth provided his own unique kind of quiet, firm, caring and love to his four surviving children, Larry (Marjorie), Danny (Mary), Linda Deniro (Louis), and Kent (Kristi) and also to all his other family and friends. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren along with many other family members and friends. Anyone who met or knew Kenny would typically be affected by his kind, quiet and respectful nature. He was a gentleman.
Ken's working life was as a truck driver with over 35 years driving and delivering freight throughout the Denver area for Santa Fe Trail Transportation. In the later years of his trucking career he drove over the road for BECO, a contract mail transport company. All tolled he had 40 plus years of safe driving, a million mile safe driving watch and several diamond studded safety award pins as company appreciation awards for his good and safe work. Beyond work Kenny was always a cowboy in nature and in fact. Sadly he didn't always have a horse or a ranch but he lived a life that was always tied to and interested in horses, cattle, ranchland and rodeo. In his younger years he was a professional rodeo cowboy. He was a very good bull rider winning in that event in Evergreen, Castle Rock to mention a few. Early on he also rode bareback and saddle broncs but he said that someone once told him he was... 'pretty good with the bulls and why don't he just stick to them... and forget the other.' That's what he did. With a growing family he ended his rodeo career but continued following and loving the sport of rodeo with the rest of his family.
Besides rodeo Kenny loved to be outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish throughout all of Colorado with friends and family. He also loved having a dog and he seemed to always have a black lab or a border collie as a hunting or walking companion. Sometimes the dog just might be some other mixed breed mutt as a family pet.
Ken was a WWII Marine Corp veteran, serving in the Pacific. He was proud member of the Teamsters Union and he would always contend that the union was good for the worker and the company. They could both win by being fair to each other. That's how he and his family thrived. He was also one of the early members of the Turtle Rodeo Association, Rodeo Cowboys Association (now the PRCA). He was not a member but always had a great fondness for the Mayflower Congregational Church in Englewood, Colorado which his wife, Lois, was a member.
