Joseph Frank Matykiewicz

Joseph Frank Matykiewicz, 86, passed away quietly after living with cancer. Beloved husband of Mary Elaine; father of Valerie Matykiewicz (Casper Cacciatore) and Laurie (Keith) Poor; grandfather of Vincent Bradley of Pueblo West and Lisa and Gina Cacciatore of Denver; great-grandfather of Hayden Bradley of Ohio. Preceded in death by wife of 63 years, Mary Elaine, who he greatly missed; brothers, Robert and Ronald Matykiewicz; and parents, Joseph and Margaret Matykiewicz of Minnesota. Also survived by a big family in Minnesota and Iowa. Joe grew up in Minneapolis, (Columbia Heights), until he moved to Pueblo West, Colo. in the 70's. He watched the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and the Wild (formally the North Stars), He thought Bud Grant, head coach of the Vikings, was the very best, and loved watching Fran Tarkenton run the field, and the Purple People Eaters of Page, Eller, Marshall and Larsen dominate the NFC. Pueblo West, Colo. was his home, but his Minnesota teams were his passion. Joe liked fishing and taking trips in his car, and he always reminded you of your license plate expiration and diligently pointed out your low tire pressure and treadwear. He will be missed. Special thank you to Sangre de Cristo Hospice (Erin, Jennifer, Connie, Alex, Johanna and Amanda) for the loving care of Joe and his family in the final days. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com
Val and Casper, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. We are thinking about you and praying you will find comfort in knowing that your dad lived a good life and he is no longer constrained in his earthly body. Your sweet memories of him will always keep him close to your hearts!

I met Joe because of you Laurie. But later worked with him in the D 70 days. He was a good man and a hard worker. Glad you are with Elaine again. RIP. Praying for you and Val.
Remember him from Pueblo West Elementary. Thoughts, prayers, and hugs to all. Great guy!!!
He was a good man and always treated Angie and I like family. He will be greatly missed.
Joe was like a Dad to me there was always a little special part in my heart for him. I am so grateful that he was a part of my life for many years. He is with Elaine now and that is where he wanted to be. You will be sadly missed. I will never watch a Vikings game that I won’t think of you.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. I enjoyed visiting with both Joe
and Elaine on their visits in Minnesota. They were wonderful people.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
