Service for John V. Ricks:

John Vernon Ricks, 58, passed away from COVID- 19 on December 8, 2021. John is survived by his loving sisters Cindy, Jerri and Sammi, multiple nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Everett S. Ricks and Patricia Dawn (Roberson) Ricks. Born June 20, 1963 in Pueblo, Colorado. John immediately brightened the lives of anyone he ever met. In 1972 the family decided to set roots in Canon City, Colorado. Growing up Johnny loved dirt bike riding and fishing. He was a music enthusiast up to the end. He never missed a chance at going to see his favorite bands in concert, taking any and all who wanted to go, all inclusive. When John entered the work force very early in his young adult life he was working for BLM in Sawatch eventually becoming a coal miner (his lifelong dream) at Dorchester mine in Fremont county. In 1983 at the age of 19, tragedy struck when John suffered brain injuries in a car accident near Canon City, Colorado. Following the accident, John would live and be cared for by his loving parents. He was even able to travel with them in their motor home. After losing his father in 2016 and his mother in 2017, he went traveling with his baby sister, Sammi. They ventured to the California Coast, experiencing Hollywood, Rodeo Drive and the magnificent beaches. On his return, he lived with his big sister Cindy until he passed.  Our Johnny’s wonderful energy and happy presence will forever be loved and missed. We hope all can join us at his service January 8, 2022 @ 2:00pm held at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 N. Main, Pueblo Co. 81003.

  4. Cindy, Jerry, Sammi,
I remember John being so sweet but with a fun sarcasm type of teasing followed by that quirky grin he’d get thinking he did or said something amusing. Which of course was. Always made me grin too. I hope you can find peace in remembering the love your parents and all of you shared with him and each other. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
