John Oechsle, a respected figure in the Pueblo community, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on February 27, 1935, in the heart of Pueblo, Colorado, John’s life was a testament to dedication, excellence, and unwavering compassion.
John excelled academically, graduating as the Valedictorian of his class at Pueblo Catholic High School. He furthered his education at the School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, where he earned an engineering degree with honors.
During his professional career, John served CF&I as a senior metallurgical engineer. Following retirement, he ventured into real estate with Century 21 and became involved in various community endeavors, including serving on the Credit Committee at Minnequa Works FCU and the CSU-Pueblo Finance Committee..
Beyond his professional endeavors, John was a stalwart supporter of his community. His involvement with Minnequa Works FCU’s Credit Committee and his service on the CSU-Pueblo Finance Committee underscored his dedication to fostering financial stability and growth within Pueblo.
John’s interests extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid coin collector and an enthusiastic investor in the stock market, enjoying discussions with fellow investors in local clubs. Ever the local, John had a fondness for Do Drop Inn pizza, Potica from Mauro Farms, and was known for his generosity to the staff at his favorite McDonalds.
John and his wife, Inge, were devoted to their Catholic faith and engaged in philanthropic activities, including establishing the John & Inge Oechsle Scholarship Program to support single parents seeking higher education through the Pueblo Community College Foundation. John was an active member of Kiwanis and the Pueblo German Club, having served as treasurer for many years.
John’s love for classical music found expression through his unwavering support for the Pueblo Symphony. As a dedicated member of the Pueblo Symphony Friends and a sponsor of symphony concerts, he enriched the cultural fabric of his community, leaving an enduring legacy of artistic appreciation and philanthropic spirit.
In memory of John Oechsle, may we honor his legacy by embodying his values of kindness, generosity, and lifelong learning. Though he may have left us, his impact on the community and the lives he touched will endure.. Preceded in life by to Emma and Anton Oechsle, parents; Anton O. Oechsle, brother; his devoted wife of 43 years, Inge Oechsle; children, Natalie (Jack) Bard of Cotopaxi, CO and Heidi (Jack) Rodosta of Springtown, TX; Bryan (Dianne) Springfield of Pueblo West, Gary (Dayna) Springfield of Redlands, CA, eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial Mass, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Christ the King Church, 1708 Horseshoe Dr. A short reception will be held at the church after the service.
