Celebration of Life:

John Charles Gordon, 65, was born on April 26, 1959, in Pueblo, Colorado. He lived in Pueblo all his life and graduated from Central High School. He was employed as Security Guard at Centennial High School until his retirement in 2023.  Centennial recently honored John by electing him to the Hall of Fame for his many services to the school, and his dedication to keeping students and staff safe. He also worked as a Park Ranger for the city of Pueblo for the past ten years.

John was married to his soulmate, Karla (Stone) Lazzarini on December 12, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Regis Gordon, and uncle Vincent C. Rotolo, Jr..

John is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Karla, and her sons, Daniel and Kyle Lazzarini;  his mother Patricia Gordon;  Sisters and brother-in -law Karen and Pete Willson, and Michelle Carneal; nieces and nephews, Megan Carneal, Samantha and George Criaris, Sarah (TJ) Fletcher, and Michael Carneal; great nieces, Olivia and Emilia Criaris, and great-nephews Liam and Jaxon Fletcher; Beloved aunts and uncles, Phyllis and Firas Shahin, Mary Ann and John Hanes, Marietta Rotolo, Damian and Patricia Rotolo, and several cousins.

John had a great sense of humor and he could find laughter with everyone he met. He was always a ready volunteer if anyone needed help.  He was fortunate to have many caring friends who were here for him , including those from “3D’s”, and the Centennial staff and graduates who brought joy and  comfort to him and Karla with their visits.

John’s great love for his family, loyalty to his friends, and his ready laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. Online condolences at www.MontgomerySteward.com

Guestbook

  1. John was a wonderful man who always said hello to me in he halls and was always where he needed to be when something went down in the school. He was hard on many but for good reasons. He wanted to see everyone succeed and knew they would need a nudge in life. He was kind and always made me happy when he would talk to me in the halls. He even helped me get prepared for my cadet of the month test my freshman year. I’ll definitely miss him dearly. My respects to his family and friends.

  2. My condolences to John’s family. John had a great sense of humor and was always fun to talk to. He never hesitated to offer his help whenever I saw him. I know he will be missed!

  3. CandleImageJohn, you are a great man and a better friend. The world has lost a friend. Thank you for always being there. I’m going to miss you my friend.

  4. CandleImageI know little to nothing about John, but I enjoyed talking to him every time I saw him in the halls of Centennial. I was late every single day and always going to the “bathroom” just to roam and talk to John. He was really funny, you expect a filter from the staff when you talk to them so you don’t see their real personality, but John didn’t have that, that’s why I liked him so much. Much love to the family.

  5. CandleImagekarla,
    My dear friend
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your soul mate and best friend John, John was a funny dude he always made me laugh in high school when he sat behind me in history class sneezing and quaking like donald duck those were the good ole days, I know John will be missed by many my deepest condolences.

  6. CandleImageKarla, my condolences to you, all your family and friends as well as the teachers & students at Centennial that knew John. He was a dedicated Wildcat & Bulldog supporters. May God grant him peace. God bless everyone!! 💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️

  7. CandleImageTo John family so so so so so sorry for your loss and he was kind of great person to me in high school me personally he was not the greatest person to most students at centennial high school

    • You have done your duty, Ranger2.
      To honor you is ours.
I kinda miss getting flipped off by you driving through the park.
Say hey to my son and Enjoy your new Crib.

  8. Dear Patty, Karla and family;

My heartfelt condolences to all of you. Regis was my swim coach at Centennial, 1966-69, and one of the funniest and brightest people I ever met. He was like a father to me. He was so proud of John and his sisters, and told the greatest stories as he watched you grow up, and I’m so pleased you became a loyal Bulldog (no offense meant for my friends at Central). Wishing that you rest in peace.
    Lots of love,
    Mack & Mary Rae Staton

  9. CandleImageI will miss the times we shared working together as Rangers. You were the first person that I worked with when I started with the Parks. My first shift with you as you trained me 10 years ago was interesting to say the least. You and I hit it off from the start, and we had some crazy shifts and encounters over the years. What I will miss the most is your laughter. The times we shared talking about life while having a cigar will always be with me. Your sense of humor in anything brings a smile to my face. Ill never forget the last time we had a cigar in your garage, you told me that your doctor advised you not to smoke and your response was why, what is it going to do kill me? My heart aches for your loved ones. I think about you everyday as I put on the uniform, and wish we were still on patrol together. I knew you always had my back, and I would just wait for you to find something going on as you always did with your spidey sense. I love you bro, and I am so happy that you arent in any more pain. I know that you will always be watching the ones you love. Thank you for being my partner, friend and my brother. Until our next 10-17, rest easy.

  10. I remember having numerous conversations with John about his love for Centennial and his deep devotion to all the students. He was always there when I needed his assistance. If you needed help with anything he made you the priority. He had the same devotion as a Pueblo Park’s and Recreation Park Ranger. The Bulldog Nation and the City of Pueblo lost a great friend today! God bless you my friend!

  11. CandleImageKarla and John’s Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. John was a very good man and friend. May he Rest In Peace. We will miss you dearly.

  12. CandleImageJohn,
From one Wildcat to another, rest in peace my friend. Enjoyed knowing you at Central. Praying for your family and friends. Even your Bulldog friends:)

  13. Sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was a true fixture at Centennial HS. Truly admired by students & faculty. Even though he grew up a Wildcat he became a Bulldog because he accepted his position of a Security Guard with a passion that will last forever. I am proud to have considered him a friend & colleague. Centennial will not be the same.
    RIP, my man.
