JoAnne Marie Lien, 86, passed away June 18, 2025.
Survived by her son, Steven (Cheryle) Lien; daughter, Sherrie (Timothy) Knodel; along with 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, James Swedberg; and sister, Gayle (Richard) Baldner.
Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lien; son, Scott Lien.
JoAnne was born and raised in August 19th 1938, in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Roosevelt High School where she met her husband, Gerald Lien, and married in December 1955. JoAnne had 3 children (Steve, Scott, Sherrie), and spent her early years taking care of the children. JoAnne and the family moved to Arvada, Colorado, where she did some work for the North Jefferson County Little Theater in Arvada, Colorado and had small parts in several plays. JoAnne also worked as a part-time reporter for the Arvada Herald Newspaper and even had her own column. The family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1967 and eventually bought a hobby farm with a few acres. JoAnne really loved the farming lifestyle but the work got to be too much and the family moved back to Colorado in 1976, JoAnne found work as a Teachers Aide for Aurora Public Schools and worked at Yale Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado, she retired after 16 fulfilling years.
JoAnne enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband in their motor home and belonged to the FCRV Camping group. JoAnne loved history especially World War II and the Old West, were two of her favorite subjects. JoAnne enjoyed sewing, crafting, and painting and always wished she had more time for it.
JoAnne touched many lives and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
JoAnne was a member of the FCRV Campers and the Timberliners. She also was a member of the Son’s of Norway.
