JoAnne Marie Decker Powers

JoAnne Marie Decker Powers, 87, was born in Pueblo County on May 1, 1936. She was raised in Rye, Colorado, and passed away there in her own home peacefully in her sleep on December 24, 2023. She is survived by four children; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; and countless cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends who mourn her absence.

A graduate of Rye High School, class of 55,’ she became a wonderful homemaker, and endless professions including daycare owner, housekeeper, postal service worker, District 70 Food Service worker, and home health care worker were among her career accomplishments.

JoAnne was a creator of Moms Against Drunk Driving M.A.D.D. Rye, Colorado Chapter and a member of Greenhorn Valley Baptist Church. She also helped begin M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers) in the valley. JoAnne was an active community member and a great friend and mentor.
