James P. Chambers, 73, passed away March 28, 2008. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilynn Chambers; children, James P. Chambers Jr. of Denver, Roxanne (Mark S. Newman) Gilmore of Denver and Doug A. (Alyson) Gilmore of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Allen Chambers; brother, Gilbert Chambers; and sister, Rose Grote. Jim was born to Albert and May Chambers on Jan. 18, 1935, in Omaha, Nebr. He was a affiliated with Precision Press, a commercial printing company, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In Iowa, Jim was a volunteer member of Douglas County React and Motorist Assist. After retirement, he was a courier for the Pueblo County Sheriff's Department. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. I remember Jim all the way back to 1955 when he was working for my Dad at Gerard Litho. My Dad had a great deal of respect for Jim and his extraordinary ability to operate printing presses. A few years later Jim and I ended up as business partners. He was a very close friend and such an easy guy to get along with. Besides being able to operate any press, he was able to manage people. Anyone who worked with him loved him. He never expected more from anybody that what he could do himself. He took care of everything…I never had to worry about anything…Jim would handle it.
My greatest regret is that I didn’t stay in contact with Jim after he and I and Chuck sold out in l982. It seems so long ago and when I see his picture it seems like yesterday.
The biggest change in Jims life was when he met you Marilyn. You helped him get through some very tough times.

We had the privledge of working with Jim for years at Bingo King. Jim was always a pleasure to work with and could brighten up our days.

He was a very considerate person and we became very good business friends. I considered him a mentor in the business and miss his quiet humor and thoughtfulness. He treated people with respect. My thoughts are with you Marilyn and with all of your family. While I haven’t kept in touch with you over the years, I remember Jim like we just saw each other yesterday. He was a great guy to work with and hang with. As news of his passing makes its way through our network of old friends, we all have very fond memories of Jim and our days (and a few nights) together at Precision Press. I wish you all the best.

As a small child, learning to write, I sent my Uncle Jimmy a letter, from Houston. On my 16th birthday, he sent me a card and returned the letter that I sent him, some ten years later. That meant so much to me, I will never forget that as long as I live.
