Frank Whalen, born January 20, 1944, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Tom Whalen; his sisters, Mary Lou Flye and Betty Jo Hobson; his brother, Tom Whalen; Niece Shelley Crosby, Nephew Bill Hobson, and many extended family members.

He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 63 years, Mary Beth. He also leaves behind his children: Erin (Chris) Herrera, Patricia (Kim) Voss, and Frank (Holly) Whalen. Frank treasured his grandchildren — Taylor Voss, Cory (fiancée Harli Butler) Voss, Ian Herrera, Perrie Whalen, and Jace Whalen — who were the pride and joy of his life.

Frank was an incredible athlete and was honored as a 2025 Greater Pueblo Sports Association Hall of Fame inductee. Beyond his athletic accomplishments, he was a truly honorable man who treated every person he met with the utmost respect. A fighter in every sense of the word, Frank was a cancer survivor whose strength, integrity, and character inspired all who knew him.

Above all, Frank loved his wife deeply and cherished his family wholeheartedly. His legacy is one of faith, perseverance, humility, and unwavering love.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s honor may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice.

  7. CandleImageMary Beth and Family, I am so sorry to hear of my Godfather’s passing. Frank has been the topic of many stories and memories over the years. I always enjoy hearing how much my Parents enjoyed spending time with you. I’m sending you lots of love and strength as you celebrate Franks life.

  8. Sending prayers and Love to Mary Beth and family members. You are in our thoughts and prayers. He fought hard the battle and finished the race. May he rest in peace with our Lord. Amen

  9. I left Pueblo after I graduated from high school in 1961, and so I never had contact with him after that time. I’m sure, however, that I screamed my throat raw whenever I attended one of PCH’S football games!
