March 6, 1939 ~ April 27, 2023

Born in: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Elaine Agnes Arnott, 84, was born on March 6, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She passed away on April 27, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado after a love-filled life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Bernadette Imblum; brother, Norman Imblum; husband, William Arnott; children, George and Joseph Arnott; and sister-in-law, Mary Pat Kaletsky. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Guadalupe ParedesMiranda) Arnott; Dennis (Shelly) Arnott; Laurie (Edward) Krall; Brian (Amy) Arnott; grandchildren, Leanna Arnott and Francisca Arnott-Paredes; Jonathan and Bryson Arnott; Crystal Krall; Christopher and Bridget Arnott; sister-in-law, Lynne Richardson and nieces and nephews.

At age 4, after her father passed away, she arrived in Pueblo by train with her mother and brother. Elaine was immensely proud of her family, speaking often of the fortitude her mom displayed in raising her children as a single mother.

After graduation from Pueblo Catholic High school, she began her adult life with a scholarship to St. Mary’s College in Kansas.  After completing her first year in college, she left school to help support her family after her mother became unemployed. She was employed at the State Hospital in Pueblo before getting married to William “Geno” Arnott in 1959, eventually becoming a full-time mother to her children and a part-time mother to the many children she babysat.

Elaine raised her six children in Pueblo, providing a safe, supportive, and fun home for her family. She was a great cook and loved baking for family, relatives, and friends. She was fiercely supportive and proud of her family.

Elaine loved her many pets over the decades, especially her dog Nellie, who was her special friend and companion in her later years, keeping her company, bringing her love, comfort and joy. She also loved sewing, gardening, being in nature and viewing wildlife.  She fed birds and squirrels as if they were personal pets, always concerned that they had enough food and water.

After the death of their oldest child, George, in 1982, Elaine and her husband William started The Pueblo Chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support group for bereaved parents and siblings of deceased children. Elaine kept the chapter going for many years, even after the passing of her husband in 2008. Over the years, their support helped many people through the toughest times in their lives and forged strong friendships among chapter members.

Elaine had a great sense of humor and was quick to laugh. She enjoyed family gatherings and adored her grandchildren. Elaine’s capacity for love was endless. She will be sorely missed.

  1. Elaine was a lovely lady, she always was charismatic and a bright light in the darkness of life. May her dear soul rest in peace.

  2. Pat, Dennis, Laurie and Brian

Your mom was my second mom growing up and spending too many hours at the Arnott’s home.
Her open arms, love and caring will be greatly missed and always treasured.

  3. To the Arnott family,
My deepest condolences to the Arnotts. As childhood friends and their parents pass away, the memories of the extraordinary experiences and memories of Lark Bunting Lane grow more dear. 5. To the Arnott Family:

I met Elaine in grade school and then we attended high school together. Life took us in separate directions in different places in the United States, but our friendship never wavered. Elaine and Bill were wonderful people and I will always treasure them in my heart. The obituary you wrote for Elaine is a great tribute to a great lady. She and your dad and your brothers will always be remembered in my prayers. And of course, the rest of you lovely children will be remembered in prayer as well. Elaine was an extraordinary and beautiful person whom we will miss, but she is at peace now with her loved ones.

  6. To The Arnott Faily,
Elaine and I went to school together and graduated from PCH. When we lost our two sons your Mom and Dad invited us to join Compassionate Friends. The group was truly a life saver for us. They helped so many Pueblo and everyone thought the world of them. You were ALL truly blessed. I know you will miss her but I know she is anxious to see her husband and two boys once again, Blessings to her family

  7. To the Arnott Family,
