Earl W. Schwalm passed away with his children by his side on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 97 years old. He is survived by his children: MaryAnn (Kurt) Fanslau, Brian (Terryle) Schwalm, Diane (Allen) Aubert, Gaylene (Ron) Mehalovitz, and Leonard (Denise) Schwalm, and close family friend, Sue Bezek, as well as his brothers, Leonard and Don Schwalm of Omaha, Nebraska. He also had 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Schwalm; his parents, Fredrick and Emma Schwalm; his brothers, Eugene, Herb, and Fred; and his sisters, Dorthy and Lois.
Earl was born on October 4, 1926, in Omaha, Nebraska. He went to Trinity Lutheran School and had never-ending adventures with his ornery Schwalm brothers and sisters. At the age of 17, he entered the Navy as part of the armed guard. He served on a merchant ship and a mine sweeper during WWII in the South Pacific. After serving, he returned home and met his beautiful bride, Evelyn. Together they raised a family of five children in Pueblo, Colorado. He enjoyed taking his children fishing, teaching them about the values of hard work, honesty, and the importance of faith. Earl was a skilled journeyman in floor covering and retired from Local 419 and Pueblo District 60 after many years of service. He worked on floor covering in many churches and the homes of friends and family. Earl was a multi-talented man who taught himself how to play a variety of instruments, paint oil paintings, make jams and jellies, and could build and remodel anything. He truly loved telling his family about his adventures as a child and watching Nebraska football every Saturday. Many weekends were spent with his grandchildren going camping and teaching them how to shoot bb guns, paint, and fish. Earl’s advice to everyone was to live a stress-free life and let God take care of your worries.
A viewing will be held on Monday, October 30th, at 1:30 p.m. to be followed by his memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Pueblo, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family would like all donations to be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your father.
I have many memories of visiting with my parents as a child. Your Father and Mother were the most loving, kind and warm people. They always made you smile and laugh! We were always welcomed in their home and they always acknowledged us out and about.
May your father rest in peace with the Lord ( your Mother also)
A truly nice man with a generous heart! May God’s peace in Christ hold Earl’s family close and give them the assurance of our Savior: “Whoever lives and believes in Me shall have eternal life.” Go in peace, Earl. Life begins today!
‘Do not stand at my grave and weep’
Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
