Our community lost a dedicated and compassionate plastic surgeon, Dr. Donald Luebke, who passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, in Pueblo, CO. His family mourns the loss of a brilliant man whose vast knowledge and curiosity about the world inspired them all. Dr. Luebke, born February 15, 1947, was a prominent figure in the medical community, known for his skillful hands and his commitment to enhancing the lives of his patients. He dedicated over four decades to the practice of plastic surgery, and was known for giving his time and skills to those in need.
Beyond his medical expertise, Don was a loving husband to his wife, Teresa, and a devoted father to his four sons, David, Stephen, Chris, and Paul. Family was at the core of his being, and he took great pride in sharing life’s journey with them. He often spoke proudly of the achievements of his sons, celebrating their individuality and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
Don welcomed new additions to his expanding family with daughters-in-law, Emily, Keesha, and Kelsey, and grandchildren, Owen, Edwin, Cyrus, James, Kate, and Sophie. Together each brought new dimensions of love and laughter to the Luebkes, enriching family gatherings with their unique personalities and creating a tapestry of interconnected lives.
Don is also survived by his sisters, Maxine (Syl) Furmanek and Margerie “Tutie” Luebke; his sisters-in-law, Donna Johnsen and Mari (Ken) Laughlin; and his nieces and nephews, Julie, Pam, Joe, Jessica, Tammy, Kelsey, Daniel, and Hudson. The fond memories created during family gatherings have become the foundation of enduring laughter and shared stories.
A celebration of his life will take place at Don & Teresa’s home on December 30, 2023, from 10:00am-12:00pm. The family wishes to invite friends, colleagues, and those whose lives were touched by him to join in remembering and honoring a man who made a lasting impact on both the medical profession and the lives of the people he loved. Then I had the opportunity to have his son as a student in my class at Centennial high school. Dr. Luebke Always was regarded highly, and he will be deeply missed.   7. Where do I begin? I first met Dr. Luebke as a student as the Pueblo Surgery Center. I was honored to have been offered a job at his medical practice. I began working with him in 2007-2012. Those 5 years were amazing in many ways and those 5 working years in his office defined who I am today in my working career. Endless knowledge obtained. The love for his wife Teresa, 4 sons and grand-kids. The amazing stories he shared about family, life, education, traveling, books and history were endless. I loved lunch time with Diane, Donna, Teresa and Dr. Luebke. It became my working family. Dr. Donald C. Luebke, you will be missed! May the perpetual light shine upon your soul. Prayers to you Teresa and your family. He made a difference in the medical community and his legacy will be cherished for decades to come.

  9. CandleImageI’m happy to say I had the privilege to work along side Dr. Luebke for a decade. He made every surgery a memorable one. Amazing with his hands and always surprising me on his techniques. Even in surgery he would love to teach and always had the most incredible stories. Loved when he would stop just to laugh. He always melted my heart. I hated when he retired and missed him terribly but I’m honored to have met and incredible and talented Doctor. He will be missed. My condolences to Teresa and the entire family. He spoke very highly of all of you and loved you all very much.

  11. CandleImageI worked with Dr. Luebke almost weekly from 2008 through his retirement at Pueblo Surgery Center. He was an amazing man to work with, and I learned so much from him. I was sad to see him retire, and I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. My condolences to Teresa and the rest of his family. He will be dearly missed.

  14. CandleImageI remember Dr.Luebke when his practice was at the Orman Ave Mansion. I worked on the 3rd floor for the American Cancer Society and then out in the Carriage house for Sangre de Cristo Hospice. He was such a nice man and a great surgeon. Condolences to his family.
