Born in: Grenville, NM
Resided in: Pueblo, CO

Della Gustava Sage passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 28th, 2022, at the age of 89.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelli Lee Miller and son-in-law, Kevin; her granddaughters, Emily Marie (Erik) Haag and Anna Lynn (Justin) Walker; and great-granddaughters, Ava Grace and Emma Sage Walker; her grandsons, Matthew and Christopher (Audrey) Harsell; and great- granddaughter, Sage Hailey Harsell.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James Frederick Sage; daughters, Trudi Sage and Jimi Sage Harsell; her brother, William ‘Boog’ Frisk; and sisters, Margie, Jaeckie and Virginia.
Della was born on the plains of northern New Mexico outside the village of Grenville. She grew up working on the family farm. Della and her siblings would milk the cattle, gather eggs from the chicken coop and finish the rest of their daily chores before going to the one room country school. On days when the school bus was missed, they would ride their horses (Spud was Della’s) bareback to and from school. All the chores had to be repeated prior to any schoolwork that was assigned.
In High School, Della was the head cheerleader, president of the Future Homemakers of America club, prom queen and Valedictorian. All but guaranteed as she was the only girl in her class! She always starred in the leading female roles in her school plays as well.
At the age of 17, she went to Denver to the Grant Business School on a scholarship. After her schooling, she moved to Pueblo and worked ant Pueblo Savings. Shortly thereafter, she met Jim Sage on a blind date. After 3 short months, they wed. Jim and Della were married for 57 years at the time of his passing.
Della worked at South High School as the attendance clerk. All of her girls loved having her at school. Especially when they were late to school as their mom always gave them a pass! After her girls finished high school, Della went on to work in the administrative offices of District 60 until her retirement.
Della was an avid sports fan. She loved the Rockies but was passionate about the Broncos. Della’s greatest love, however, was her grandchildren. Visiting Nana, they could count on three things. Something delicious baking in the oven, playing games and lots of love!
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Carol Smith for taking such good care of Della for the last years of her life.
Della requested that no services be held for her.
