Bonnie Lee Trujillo

Bonnie Lee Trujillo, 94 years young, entered heaven on July 25, 2025. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Tony Trujillo; son, Anthony Jude Trujillo; parents, Frederico and Maxine Madrid of Rocky Ford, Colorado; brothers, Jose Garfield Madrid, Benny Madrid, Sullivan Madrid, Estibon Madrid, and Gilbert Madrid; sisters, Rose Casias, and Lil Dorothy Gloria Madrid; son-in-law, Joseph “Tom” Martinez. Bonnie is survived by her six children and their respective families; 1) Dr. Gloria (Pete) Sanchez, April Sanchez and son (Jett Baker), Desiree Sanchez (Christian, Camerin, Ckeanin “CK”), and Jude Sanchez and children (Jude II, Skylar, Kennedy) 2) Theresa (James) Vigil, James Vigil and daughter (Madyson) and Jamie Vigil 3) Anthony (Debra) Trujillo, Christina (Stevan) Chavez and children, (Justus, Daymn, Tonie), Tony Trujillo, Jr. and son (Cyrus) 4) Geraldine Martinez, Erica (Chris) Manzanares and children, ( Alejandra, (Marc Butts), Izaiah Trujillo and Kenlee Manzaneras) and Deidre Trujillo and son (Elijah Trujillo) 5) Fred “Joe” (Janet) Trujillo and son (Adam Schoenthal) 6) Brenda (Art) Aranda and children, Rhyli and Aidan Aranda. Also survived by brother Fred Madrid, Jr. and sister Dorothy Encinias; brother-in-law Adolph “Val” (Hope) Trujillo and sister-in-law Mary Lucero; special friends Nathan “Michael” Chavez, Jean “The Big Carrot” Hall, and Karen “The Real Carrot” Quintana Planalp. Bonnie was born July 22, 1931, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and attended school there. Like her spouse Tony, she encouraged her children to excel in their studies. Bonnie was hard-working and took pride in her employment at Pueblo Community College. She retired from this institution after serving 25+ years. During her tenure, she earned numerous awards for outstanding work performance. She especially recalled the wonderful relationships that she had with agency staff members. More importantly, she mentored student workers in pursuing/completing their educational goals. Bonnie believed in commitment to family, respect for one another and self, faith and love in God, and care for Mother Nature. She cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and prepared the best menudo on Bronco Sundays. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite destination was Mount Rushmore. Above all Bonnie’s accomplishments, was the love and care she gave to her 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Many thanks to the staff at Rock Canyon Rehabilitation Center for the care given to her. Viewing is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Rosary followed by funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m. Friday. August 1,2025, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Logan Ave. with Fr. Peter John Abogado as celebrant.
