Bessie Rebecca Wigton Housman, 94, abandoned her physical garment and peacefully ascended to the spiritual Kingdom on the morning of Saturday, January 9th, 2021. Born in Pueblo, CO to Washington Irving Wigton and Bessie Ramsey Wigton. Predeceased by her parents; by her beloved husband and boyfriend of 70 years, Charles Oliver Housman; her elder brothers, Junior, Henry and John, and her brother-in-law, Louis Housman and niece, Nancy Housman. Survived by her beloved sons, Jon (Gloria), Robert (Colleen), Brian, and Van (Lori); her daughter-in-law, Melonie Seal; her sisters-in-law Virginia Shaw (Dave), Alice Housman, and Suzy Ruppert (Roger); her younger brother, Chester; her beloved grandchildren, Cara Fitzgerald (James), Jennifer Klein (Casey), Charles, Brett, Kelsie, Annie, Sarah Lucero (Miles), Mitch (Ashley), Grace and her great-grandchildren, Tommy and Bobby; her adored niece, Cindy Wright, and her many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Becke was a happy and joyful soul. She loved card games, word searches, dancing, singing and piano hour. Her very favorite songs to sing-along to in the last few years were Doris Day’s “A Bushel And A Peck”, “Frère Jacques” (Brother John), and Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon”. Becke lit up when family visited and called her. She was a long-time card shark and loved playing Blitz and Bridge. She also enjoyed Uno and Yahtzee. Her favorite shows to watch were “Texas Ranger”, “Murder She Wrote”, and “Wheel of Fortune”.
Becke was a Bahá’í. She would often recite the healing prayer and the Tablet of Ahmad by memory. She called all of the nurses and staff who helped her, “precious”. She was truly loved and adored by many. She was strong, brave, and hardy. Becke lived a long, beautiful life and did not go a day without hearing “I love you” from her family. She is in eternal love now and will be cherished forever.

My apologies for being late, I only just found out. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to see Aunt Becke much growing up, I do remember her kindness, smiles, and welcomes. She had a way of making everyone feel special. My condolences to the Housman family.

Sorry to hear the loss of your mom, grandmother and aunt. There are countless memories hanging out at the house on Dartmouth while growing up in Sunset Park. She and Chuck were wonderful folks.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I too gave many fond memories of Mrs. Housman growing up in Sunset Park. I didn’t lots if time at that house on Dartmouth especially in middle school. She was always so happy and generous. Praying for peace at her passing.

Deepest condolences to the Housman-Wigton clan. Tough times, with Louis’ passing just a week ago. I vaguely remember Chuck calling Becke “Toughie” (Tuffy?). I always liked that pet name for some reason, whether it fit or not. Many pleasant memories of Becke, Chuck and Louis.

I’m sorry, it was Hellbeck school.
I only met her once. She was with Mr. Houseman as I knew him from Pitts Jr. High School. We were at a dinner that was trying to sell us something. Mrs. Houseman was so nice and we talked during the presentation with a good meal. Mr. Houseman was my favorite teacher growing up and I will never forget him or Mrs. Houseman that night. Prayers for the family,

I remember water-skiing, swimming, and playing a card game called Thirty-one at Aunt Becke’s home.
We pray to the Lord Jesus Christ that He will provide comfort to the family during this time of mourning and grieving.
We also pray that everyone will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. He lived a perfect life without sin and died on a cross to pay for our sin.

Some years ago I was working in Long Beach, California at a aircraft factory. I had some time off and came back to my home town of Pueblo. It was December quiet cold, I stopped by Charles and Rebecca’s home. Charles was off some where and Rebecca offered me some hot wassail and snacks. We talked a good long while. I only have fond memories of both Charles and Rebecca.

Chuck and Becke were two of the first people we met when we moved to Pueblo and they welcomed us with open arms. Becke was very dear to me and has a very special place in my heart. Beautiful, laughing, singing, dancing, generous, kind and loving are just a few of the words that come to my mind when I think of her. She will be deeply missed and I am so sorry for your loss.
