Dr. William 'Bill' G. Turman, 92, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital after a brief stay due to a respiratory illness. William was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Portland, Ore. to Charles and Lydia Turman. After attending Madeline College at Oxford University and graduating from Syracuse Medical School in 1948, William enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Captain and completed his internship in obstetrics/gynecology at Percy Jones Army Hospital. In 1950, he married the former Katherine Powell from Moore, Mont. He served active duty as a M.A.S.H surgeon in Korea, completing his military service in 1953. William had a private medical practice in San Francisco for 22 years, and then served as the Chief Hospital Administrator at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco for an additional 10 years. From 1983, until his retirement in 2002, William was the CEO at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital here in Pueblo. After the passing of his first wife in 1989, William married the former Margaret Allan Seavy in 1992, and was happily married until her passing in 2013. He was an avid supporter of the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center and was an active board member for a number of local foundations and charitable organizations. He enjoyed traveling, painting, volunteering, reading and spending time with his children and grandchildren. William was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Beulah, Colo. William is survived by his children, Carrie (Gary) Franchi of Pueblo, Colo., Lisa (Michael) Walker of Denver, Colo., Jonathan (Christine) Turman of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; stepchildren, Robert (Julie) Seavy, Jack (Susan) Seavy and Margaret (Bert) van de Burgt.; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving William are his younger sister, Muriel Turman of Portland, Ore., and older sister Lynette Richmond of Portland, Ore. Mass, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, Christ the King Church, 1708 Horseshoe Dr. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.   3. So sorry to hear of Dr. Turman’s passing. Bill was a wonderful person, kind and generous to all. As a former CEO of St. Mary Corwin , Dr. Turman played a significant role in the hospital, community and my family’s life. Bill was an active member of the hospital board for years. His keen knowledge of the community, medical staff, and hospital employees played a large role in the continuing operations of St. Mary Corwin. My family and I will miss him.
