William "Bill" John Johnston

William “Bill” John Johnston, 87, of Pueblo, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Bill was born on January 4, 1938, in Yuma, Colorado, to John and Ilene Johnston. Bill graduated from high school in Yuma in 1956 and went on to receive his master’s degree in Greely, CO. After receiving his master’s degree, he proudly served as a clinical administrator at the Colorado state hospital for 30 years.

Bill loved many sports and excelled in them throughout his school years. He was an avid golfer and got his first hole-in-one at the age of 80. He loved to travel with his wife, Janice, and of all of the places they visited, Las Vegas remained his favorite. Bill valued family above all things. In June, Bill and Janice were honored by their family and friends with a 50 th wedding anniversary celebration.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Johnston; daughter, Kristen Johnston (Martin Ruybal); son, Terry (Pam) Hopkins; sister, Jan Johnston-Schuerman (Walt); grandchildren, Trevor (Molika), Jessie (Rod), Terra (Vassie), Ben (Tara), Megan (Zach), Ashley, and Savannah (Sean); great-grandchildren, Laila, Kennedy, Silas, William, Declan, Era, Dua, and two more on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice; sons, Michael Johnston, Ron Hopkins, and Michael Hopkins.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
