Victor “Vic” Emmanuel Albo Jr., 89, loving father and retiree, died peacefully Tuesday June 17, 2025, at his daughter’s home in Trinidad, Colorado, with his family by his side.
Victor was born on March 12,1936, in Pueblo, Colorado during the Great Depression to Victor Emmanuel Albo Sr. and Delia (Avalos) Albo. After Victor’s father died in 1939, Delia remarried and the family relocated to the farming area around Cheraw, Colorado. Victor’s childhood was filled with learning to farm and taking care of animals and this passion for gardening and farming was born.
In 1955, Victor enlisted in Rocky Ford, Colorado in the United States Navy which began an adventure on the open seas of the Mediterranean, Pacific Islands and part of Central America, and the Atlantic. Victor warmly remembered that his time in the Navy was one of the happiest times in his life. He shared these countless stories of adventure with his children through the end of his life. He served aboard the USS Mt. McKinley. Victor served from 1955-1957 and transferred to the Reserves through November 15, 1961. He received an Honorable discharge from the US Navy.
Victor once discharged from the Navy, he returned to Colorado and married Jessica Sandoval whom he remembered seeing her and her “little red boots” in earlier childhood. They married on October 24, 1959, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Parish in La Junta, Colorado. They chose to build a house in Swink, Colorado where they raised 4 children. Victor devoted his life to being a supportive and loving father who taught his children the importance of hard work, responsibility, education, respect, and perseverance. Victor decided to build his own construction company called Vic’s Construction which helped low-income people remodel and build new homes.
Victor was known by those close to him as a skilled craftsman and carpenter. He had a workshop down in the basement of their home in Pueblo where he created beautiful wooden pieces of art like violins, birdhouses, wooden carved trucks and trains, wooden rocking snails for his children and grandchildren. Victor also used his knowledge of farming to plant a garden of vegetables and flowers in his yard in Pueblo. Victor loved the outdoors and spent hours outside the last year of his life. Victor was a leader, provider, and problem solver. He led with strength and courage and was a risk taker. Victor loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Victor is survived by his children, Kathy (Richard) DeCristino of Trinidad, Colo., Kevin Albo of Pueblo, Colo., Chris (Christy) Albo of Brush, Colo., Alicia Albo (Dexter Smith) of Irving, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ryan DeCristino, Lisa DeCristino, Erik (Elena) DeCristino, Emily (Zach) Albo, Nic (Caitlyn) Albo, Kate Albo, and Lily Quintana; two-great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Ezekiel DeCristino; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Victor was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Albo; his parents, Victor Emmanuel Albo Sr., Delia Avalos Albo; brothers, Edward Albo, Frank Albo, and Richard Albo; and sister, Irene Albo; and other siblings, Mary DeHerrera, Elena Romero, Estefanita Tafoya, Bobby Hernandez, Reyes Hernandez, and Jess Hernandez.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Sangre de Cristo Hospice Community Care and our sister Kathy and her husband Rick for the loving care they provided for our father during his last year of life.
