Suzanne Sturgeon Anton, 87, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on February 22, 2026.
She was born on June 20, 1938, in Pasadena, California.
A proud graduate of the University of Colorado and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma
sorority, Suzie embraced Boulder and the Buffaloes wholeheartedly. Alongside her
husband Hank, she opened their home to encourage students from southern Colorado to
pursue a CU education. Her dedication earned her the University Medal — one of the
university’s highest honors, a distinction she and Hank each earned individually, a
testament to how deeply they both gave back.
A self-described “professional volunteer,” Suzie gave generously to the causes she loved.
Her lifelong commitment to the Girl Scouts was recognized with a Lifetime Membership.
She served Rosemount Museum and Ascension Episcopal Church, and she also spent
time reading to children in underserved schools. She was a member of the Pueblo Junior
League for many years, including serving as co-editor of the beloved ‘From an Adobe
Oven’ cookbook.
Suzie began her career as a teacher before finding her calling in real estate. She built a
distinguished career with Jones-Healy Realtors, earning Realtor of the Year, the
President’s Award from the Pueblo Association of Realtors, and a Lifetime Achievement
Award.
Suzie loved all living things — people, plants, and every creature great and small, which
she called “critters” with the greatest affection. Her energy was legendary, her positivity
infectious, her humor wry and perfectly timed.
Suzie is survived by her children, Lisa Anton Hagen (Jim), Michael Anton (Rebecca), and
Cori Anton Hord (Erik); grandchildren Tyler Hagen (Kristen), Hannah Hagen (JJ Evanoff),
Michael Hagen, Jack Hagen, Christina Anton (Jay Bendlin), Thomas Anton, John Anton,
Libby Hord, and Matthew Hord; great-grandchild Sawyer Hagen; as well as beloved
sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry “Hank” Anton, who passed away
just two months before her on December 18, 2025, after 65 and a half years of marriage.
She was also preceded by her parents, Mary and John Sturgeon, and her siblings,
Rosemary Sturgeon Bornt and John Sturgeon.
A joint Celebration of Life for Suzie and Hank will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00
p.m. at Ascension Episcopal Church, 420 W. 18th St., Pueblo. A reception will follow in the
Parish Hall. The family invites guests to honor Suzie and Hank’s shared love of the CU
Buffs by wearing black and gold.
Special thanks to the staff members who cared for Suzie at Parkview Hospital, Rocky
Mountain Cancer Centers, University Park Care Center and Primrose Retirement
Community for their outstanding and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers and food, please consider a donation to Rosemount Museum, Ascension
Episcopal Church, Pueblo Zoo, or a charity of your choice.
In Suzie’s honor, say yes to the volunteer opportunity, befriend a critter, and never miss a
chance to be the most cheerful person in the room.
