Stuart Gilmore Marsh departed from this life on September 26, 2025 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debbie Marsh, his twin brother, Chris Marsh, his three children, David Marsh, Patrick Marsh (Audrey Marsh), and Suzanne Marsh, and his four grandchildren, Vincent Richards, Marcus Richards, Gwendolyn Marsh, and Peter Marsh. He is predeceased by his parents, Rose and Robert Marsh, brother, Jeff Marsh, and infant son.
Stuart moved to Pueblo with his family in 1957 when he was seven years old. He attended East High School, where he was on the gymnastics team and graduated in 1967 as Valedictorian. He then graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of California Santa Cruz in 1971, and University of Colorado with a doctorate in medicine 1979. After obtaining his medical degree, Stuart practiced pathology at Parkview Hospital for 30 years. During that time, he served as Chief of Staff at Parkview, and was a dedicated member of both the Bonfils Stanton Foundation and the Parkview Foundation boards for many years.
Stuart had a brilliant mind and boundless curiosity and enthusiasm. He was a man of many talents and hobbies. He loved music and could play the guitar, piano, fiddle, ukulele, accordion, and penny whistle. He had a special appreciation for American Folk and Hawaiian music. He loved books, reading, and languages and would spend hours reading books in his greenhouse or on his back porch. In addition to English, he could speak Italian, German, and Russian. He loved stories, legends, and folklore, and started graduate school studying folklore mythology before transferring to medical school.
Stuart also loved plants, gardening, and nature. He tended a greenhouse full of exotic plants such as pineapples and jasmine, and also grew his own tomatoes, basil, and other vegetables and herbs. Stuart maintained an orchard of fruit trees, two vegetable gardens, and a raspberry patch on his property in Pueblo West. In retirement, he was most likely to be found relaxing in his greenhouse with book. Stuart enjoyed skiing, golf, and watching storms roll in from the mountains. He always said he felt closest to God when he was out in nature.
Stuart was a dedicated Broncos fan and held season tickets for over 20 years. He would always make the drive to Denver and tailgate every home game, even in bad weather and when he had to work early the next morning. He prided himself on having the best tailgate food in the lot. Traveling the world with his children was one of Stuart’s most cherished activities. Italy and Ireland were some of his favorite destinations, but nowhere on earth could come close to how much he loved traveling to Hawaii, where his brother Chris lives.
Stuart’s absolute favorite thing in the world to do was cook food for the people he loved. He would spend hours in the kitchen prepping elaborate gourmet meals from scratch. Even when he was working full time as a doctor and had three small children, family dinner was always a priority. Everything that could be done from scratch or by hand, was. Food was his love language.
Stuart had so many passions, hobbies, and talents because he savored all the beautiful things in this life and always looked for the joy in everything. He loved to have fun and would go out of his way to make the ordinary special. He could cheer anyone up, no matter what. He was a doting father and grandfather and will be very sorely missed.
