Richard Wallace Knudsen warmly embraced The Father on December 19, 2025 just short of his 87th birthday (1/22/1939 Spencer, IA). He was comforted, as always, by his bride (Annette Knudsen) as he passed peacefully.
There are no words to impart how far and wide and deeply he impacted those whose paths he crossed. From Spencer, IA to South Dakota State to the US Navy (Lieutenant) to Gates Rubber Company as a chemist, Denver University Law School to Peterson-Fonda Law Firm to Pueblo County High Tennis Coach to Central Cristian Church he has kept friends across the timeline and inspired laughter, faith, wisdom, love, compassion, orneriness, creativity, song and victory. He leaves a hole in our heart that only God can fill.
Richard is preceded in death by his precious daughter Bryn Kara Knudsen, brother John Knudsen, Jody Knudsen (sister in law), JW Knudsen (father), Maude Knudsen (mother), Marion Knudsen (stepmother) and survived by his beautiful and brilliant wife M. Annette Knudsen, son Kyler Knudsen, daughter-in-law Laura Knudsen, grandson Deacon Knudsen and granddaughter Kailani Bryn Knudsen.
Richard was a 50 year member, board chair, elder, and choir member at Central Christian Church he served in Rotary, Pueblo Diversified Industries board, Roselawn Cemetery board, the 30 Club and offered his gifts to anything that encourage fun, faith and philanthropy. Services to celebrate Richard’s life and love will be held at Central Christian Church (1902 N Hudson Ave, Pueblo, CO 81001) at 2 pm on January 3rd 2026.
In the same breath of grief we want to express our joy in his arrival to the kingdom of the Father and for the time we were all able to revel in his company.

We want to thank, from the bottom of our heart, all those that cared for, visited, took to lunch, prayed for, called and connected with Richard over the years. We are truly blessed to have an army of support and offer special blessings to Sangre De Cristo Hospice and Nurse Ally and Chaplain Michael AND our Visiting Angels with extra special thanks to our own personal Angel Margaret Romero.

It is with great sadness that we learned of Richard’s passing. He was one of the most caring and kindest people we’ve ever known. He touched all he knew with love. Heaven is a better place because Richard is there. He will be deepely missed.
Dick was one of the first persons I met when we moved to Pueblo. We met through our wives. We had great times on the basket ball court , golf course, skiing, bridge table, and traveling. Dick was one of a kind. Always jovial and never a cross word. He could be counted on for any favor needed. He will be truly missed by all. Love to Annette and Kyler.

Dick Knudsen was a very special individual. He and Annette were among the first individuals that we met when we arrived in Pueblo. Dick was a warm, friendly, jovial and intelligent individual, well respected by all who knew him. Dick was a fine lawyer and a credit to his profession.
Dick was the most musically inclined individual among our early group of friends He could sing and play well, several instruments, and did this for many friendly gatherings, delighting all our children.
I knew Dick as an outstanding tennis player who had a wicked serve that made him a desired tennis partner for anyone lucky enough to be paired with him. Tennis wasn’t his only sport. He also played football, basketball and was an excellent skiier.
Dick will always be remembered for his many contributions to the Pueblo community, as documented in his obituary.
Dick will be missed, but leaves behind some great memories.
We are so sorry to learn that Dick has passed. He was a most kind and generous man and was always so supportive of Patty. Please find comfort knowing he remains in our hearts and prayers.
Annette and Kyler, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Knudsen was one of my favorite people. The talks we would have about the Lord, Real Estate, Tennis and everything in between. He was so strong with the passing of Dr. Pierce and made sure I was ok. Coming by my house to check in, again, telling stories.
We lost a great one. May his Memory be Eternal.

Pleasure to have worked with Dick as a partner in Peterson& Fonda. Dick and Annette were also close personally in the group “Personal Friends”. He was an example how to live life helping others professionally and serving the community.
I’m so sorry to see this news. Richard was always so kind and a good friend to my grandparents (the Reedy’s) at Central Christian. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I have so many fond memories of Dick. They took in this broken young pastor and helped to give me a second chance at life. Thanks to all of you. I especially remember the journey we walked with Bryn. A true man of God.

So many memories of raising our kids together in church, watching Bronco games, skiing, traveling, singing, and just loving to be together. Richard was always a prankster and always had stories tell, songs to play and sing and poems to recite. He was always kind, generous and thoughtful. Heaven has gained a treasure.

Mr. Knudsen was always a gentleman when he came in to the District Court Clerk’s office. He always treated us, the Clerks, with courtesy and respect. I am so sad to hear of his passing.
Glad our paths crossed what a nice guy, thoughts and prayers to Annette and Kyler.
Years may have parted us, but the memories of bike rides, trips to cabins, music from his fingertips, and sharing of stories over a bridge table will go on. We love you Dick and Annette and Kyler and that won’t change.
