Reed A. Grant, 84, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Grant; stepson, Aaron (Maureen) Olivieri; granddaughter, Jacelyn Olivieri; sister, Marilyn (Dave) Armbrust; sister-in-law, Kathy Hulsing; brother-in-law, James Hulsing; and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott M. Grant; parents, Shelby and Pauline Grant; in-laws, James and Georgia Hulsing; brothers, Duane (Loretta) Grant and Lyle (Julia) Grant; sisters, Audre (Harold) Neuhaus and Donna (Gary) Nies; and sister-in-law, Melissa Riggs.

Reed was born on May 1, 1939, in Benson, Minn., and was a teacher for 20 years with School District 60 at Centennial High School and also a general contractor for 20 years. He enjoyed football, coaching wrestling, and all high school and college athletic games. Reed volunteered at church and was a puzzle enthusiast.

Reed was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Greater Pueblo Sports Association (GPSA).

  1. I enjoyed visiting with Reed at the church garage sales and watching him banter with my uncle Truman at those sales, at church, and at their morning coffee. Melinda and family, I’m so sorry for your loss.

  5. Reed was a Volunteer for Cooperative Care Center. Our condolences for the family. He was such a blessing and a joy to be around. He was known as “Tweedy” here at the Coop. “Well done thou good and faithful servant, when you’ve done it to the least of these, you have done it unto me” ❤️🙏

    known Reed. Since the mid-60’s I have shared a wonderful friendship
    with him…..both good times and bad. God grant Melinda peace and
    comfort, and for now, we will all miss him so very much.

  8. Hi Melinda. You are on our minds and in our hearts . ❤️ I’ve been having so many great things to remember Uncle Reed popping into my mind. Even though we were miles apart, we hold you guys very close. He meant the world to all of us. Having lost our Dad at such a young age , we do realize how precious life is.
    I’m sorry we cannot be there on Tuesday. We will do the livestream.
    We’re so thankful that we had such a wonderful time with everyone last fall. Thank you for that.

  10. I just visited Reed and Melinda a few weeks ago. I had a great day with him. We ate lunch took me on a tour of Pueblo and we laughed alot. We went to church together and it was a beautiful
    And. Precious time to spend with a great friend. I will miss him so much. Prayers and blessings to Melinda and his family.

  12. Coach Grant was my JV football coach in 1970 and was a fixture of Centennial athletics. He along with many others held a powerful influence in my life and I became a teacher and coach largely due to their positive role modeling. I was fortunate to rekindle my relationship with Coach over the past few years.

  15. Another of the real good ones has moved on. Our days back at Centennial were some of the best years of my career. Having acquired friends like Reed made my life so enjoyable as a teacher & Coach. What a great guy. Always enjoyed being around him because his personality was one of the best.

  16. With Reed’s passing, I have lost a very dear friend of over 50 years. I had the honor of working with Reed both as an educator and as a coach at Centennial and for the last 8 years as members of the Greater Pueblo Sports Association. He was a Centennial Bulldog through and through. Rest in Peace Reed and may you be wrapped in the loving arms of Our Lord forever in Heaven. My condolences to Melinda and the rest of the family. You will always have the memories to cherish in your hearts.

  17. Reed, you were a light to all of us. You were joy-filled albeit somewhat cantankerous but in a pure-love way. Reed was love. Reed still is love. He will be truly missed and cherished, always.

    • Coach Grant was the Biggest Bulldog of us all. He was a great motivator and fun to be around. His dedication will forever be remembered. Rest in peace.
