Ralph Nichols Marco, 83, of Pueblo, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ralph was born on October 2, 1941, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Ralph Sr. and Charlotte Marco. After graduating from Central High School in 1959, Ralph proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Ralph dedicated 35 years to the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was known not only for his reliability but also for the many close friendships he built both at the post office and along his route. After retirement, he continued to serve his community by working as a driver for seniors at SRDA in Pueblo, a role that brought him great joy.
In 1970, Ralph met the love of his life, Sharon, in Salt Lake City. They married in 1972 and went on to share 53 years of unwavering love, laughter and devotion. Sharon stood faithfully by his side, not only as his partner in life but as his tireless caretaker in his final years. Their love story was a true partnership that carried them through every season of life.
Above all, Ralph was a family man. He poured his heart into raising his two daughters, Elizabeth and Vicki, who will forever carry with them the lessons of his love, humor and building lifelong friendships. He welcomed Vicki’s husband, Eric, into the family with open arms and loved him as a son, cherishing the special bond they shared. As “Papa,” Ralph adored his grandchildren, Nicholas and Addi, and was always eager to jump in the car for a visit to Santa Fe.
Ralph also cherished special places that became part of who he was. Chief among them was Glenwood Springs, Colorado. From the time he was a young boy, Glenwood was his haven. For nearly 70 years, he returned year after year, creating family memories of relaxation and laughter.
Ralph’s legacy is one of love, kindness and friendship. He was the rarest kind of friend — the kind you could call in joy or in sorrow, and he would meet you there without hesitation. Many of his closest bonds began in childhood and endured for more than seventy years. These friendships were not casual; they were deep, lasting and life-shaping. If you had the good fortune to be Ralph’s friend, you were family, an enduring loyalty that defined his life.
Ralph is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his daughters, Elizabeth Marco and Vicki (Eric) Harris; his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Addison; lifelong friends John and Charlotte Cernac; and his faithful pups, Lulu and Muffin, who brought him comfort and joy every day. He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Richard, his sister Ginger and his sister Geraldine, with whom he shared a close bond.
Ralph will be remembered as a proud Marine, a faithful public servant, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud Papa.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Grant Salazar and the hospice nurses and staff for their exceptional care, compassion and support during Ralph’s final journey.
A celebration to honor Ralph’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at The Old Town Carriage House, 102 S. Victoria St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to SRDA or the charity of their choice.
