Ralph attended Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana and obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting. After graduation, Ralph worked for Piggly Wiggly grocery stores as an accountant. In December 1969, he was hired by Robert McCulloch Sr. to be the comptroller and financial officer for a new land development in southern Colorado, what would become Pueblo West. After two years as financial officer, he was promoted to the Project Manager of Pueblo West. During his tenure as Project Manager, Ralph was responsible for the development of the community which included the newly formed Pueblo reservoir: water storage, fishing, boating, and water activities. Ralph was instrumental in the development of the National Horsemen’s Arena, future home of the Pueblo West Saddle Club which was the largest saddle club in Southern Colorado at that time. The Arena was also the home of the National Cowboy Polo Association, with many of the national finals held there during the 70’s. McCulloch sponsored many National Little Britches Rodeos, US vs. Canada match riding championship, and National Junior / Senior Rodeos. After leaving McCulloch in 1984, Ralph was hired as CEO by Triad Development, a national land developer in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada, and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1995, Ralph moved his family from Gilbert, Arizona back to Pueblo West and started Prairie Works Mortgage and remained in Pueblo West until his retirement. When Ralph was not working, his favorite activities revolved around his horses. He was an avid team roper his whole life, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), President of the National Cowboy Polo Association, and President of the Pueblo West Saddle Club. He was the Owner/ Operator of the Horsemen’s Arena from 1980-1984 and hosted multiple rodeo and team roping events. He competed as a member the National Senior Pro Rodeo (Old Timers Rodeo). Ralph also enjoyed fishing and big game hunting. He was also a sports enthusiast and could be found watching college football and basketball, the Broncos on Sunday, and numerous rodeos on the Cowboy Channel. Ralph loved his family and proudly watched their sporting events. Ralph had the heart and spirit of a true cowboy who loved the outdoors and being involved with his family and friends. When he moved to Pueblo West in January 1970, he found the perfect fit for his love of the western life, as a true cowboy.
