Peggy Ann (Elgin) Meservey, 72, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on January 7, 2026. She was born on January 15, 1953, in Nowata, Oklahoma, and grew up in Ridgway, Colorado—a place she cherished deeply and where her lifelong love for animals began. Peggy’s love for God was central to who she was. As a devoted member of Central Christian Church, her faith guided her through life’s joys and challenges. She carried a quiet but steadfast belief that shaped her compassion, her generosity, and the way she cared for others.
Peggy devoted her life to her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She is survived by her children, Jenn (Brandon) Hinkhouse, Elizabeth Bukovsky, and Eric (Desiree) Bukovsky; her grandchildren, Arwyn, Tristan, Ben, Aurelia, and Chase; her nieces, Karen Elgin, Beth (Sam) Riggenbach, Lisa (Scott) Butler, and Karen Scott; and her special friend, Mike Bukovsky. She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies—Thunder, Tigger, and Honey—who brought her endless joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and June Elgin; her sister, Carla (Lee) Scott; her brother, Jon (Yvonne) Elgin; her stepmother, Lucy Elgin; her husband, Steve Meservey; her son, Stephen Meservey Jr.; and her nephews, Patrick Scott and Jon Elgin Jr.
Peggy had a heart of gold and a spirit defined by strength, resilience, and grace. A two-time cancer survivor, she faced each challenge with courage. She dedicated nearly 30 years to serving others through her work at Catholic Charities, where her compassion for the less fortunate touched countless lives. Independent and strong, she instilled those same values into her daughters. Peggy earned her wings long before she left this earth, blessing everyone who knew her with kindness, faith, and love.
A service to honor Peggy’s life will be held on Friday, January 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church, 1902 N. Hudson Ave, Pueblo, Colorado.
