Pearl was born September 4, 1942, as Pearl Marie Wisthoff, daughter of George and Althea Wisthoff and was the oldest of 5 siblings. Pearl graduated from South High School and was fortunate to find genuine, unconditional love marrying Leroy Myers. Together, they began building their life long dreams together. Pearl will be forever admired by her 3 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for teaching the importance of perseverance with relentless determination no matter what obstacles come their way.
Pearl spent most of her adult career working for the US Forest Service as a purchasing agent, spent additional time working forest fires and dressing up as Smokey the Bear for parades.
Pearl enjoyed spending time with friends and family camping, fishing, playing bingo, getting up at dawn to hunt ghost shrimp in the sand, playing cards like spades or poker with her family. She was a big part of the competitive family dynamic of competition when it came to games and even a bigger competitor when it came to fishing.
Through time Pearl and Leroy’s life dreams and goals changed due to adverse events. Yet they both overcame that challenge and re-routed their dreams. Pearl continued to live life as a warrior by the choice to make changes not excuses. Pearl will forever be embedded in every fish we catch, sunset we see, scratch ticket we scratch. More importantly our profound strength has come from her hardship as she has taught us that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.
