Louis Shapiro passed away at University Care Center in Pueblo, CO on June 22, 2023. He was 95 years old. He was born in New York, on June 1, 1928. He was the middle child of five children of Harry and Rose Shapiro. He was a Mechanical Engineer in the Aerospace industry for over 40 years.
He and his first wife Elizabeth (Stegmeyer) had seven children, all but one still surviving.
Regina (David McCue), preceded Joel (Tess) Shapiro, Rochelle (Bill Allen), Jeffrey (Carroll) Shapiro, twin to Renee (Robert Elliott), and Jared (Marilyn) Shapiro, twin to Rosalind (Larry Lowen).
When he married Lillian (Betty) in 1987, her two children, Ryan & Lisa Neily, became part of the family.
He has 21 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren, and one Great-Great-Grandchild with another on the way.
He is survived by a sibling, Shirley (Art Golden, preceded), and preceded by siblings, Harvey (Jeanette) Shapiro, Fran (Art Silver), and Norman Shapiro
His hobbies and interests included: collecting dolphin statues and he loved to fish. He even had a Koi pond constructed in the front yard of his home in Anaheim, CA. Lou liked Westerns and he was often found watching a John Wayne movie. He also played chess with the grandkids during family day gatherings. Lou enjoyed cooking, his specialties being Hungarian Goulash, Chili, Chicken Cacciatore, and Vegetable Pasta. His favorite treats were Riesen candies, Jelly Bellies, and Red Vine Licorice. Lou and his wife Lillian (Betty) loved to go on vacations to Puerta Vallarta and Carlsbad, CA.
He will be greatly missed by one and all.
