Lawrence Harold “Butch” Stanko, age 83, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on August 2, 2025. Born on June 5, 1942, in Pueblo, Butch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Edith Stanko. He is survived by his wife of many years, Kathryn Stanko; his children, Mindy (Charlie) Kuntz, John (Shannon) Stanko, and Megan (Matt) Davis; his grandchildren, Ashley Stanko, Joe Stanko, Anthony Kuntz, Olivia Kuntz, Braelyn Davis, and Wesson Davis; his step-grandchildren, Victoria Krier and Ali Pryor; his sister, Barbara Cacciatore; his nephew, Dean (Marie) Cacciatore; his niece, Gina Cacciatore; his aunt, Martha Frattarelli; his beloved dog, Sugar; and numerous extended family members and close friends who were blessed to share in his life.
A proud Navy veteran, Butch served in the military in his early years and developed his skill as a master carpenter. This craftsmanship became a hallmark of his life, and he spent the rest of his career as a carpenter and woodworker, creating beautiful pieces and projects that reflected his passion for the craft.
Butch’s love of life extended beyond his work. He had a lifelong enthusiasm for NASCAR, coin collecting, and spending time creating projects in his workshop. He also loved baking, especially sweet breads and cookies, which he often shared with family and friends. Butch was known for his big heart, resilience, and uncomplaining spirit, especially in his long battle with health challenges. His family fondly remembers his favorite saying: “It’s a long way from your heart,” a reminder of his positive outlook and strength, no matter the obstacles.

Kathy and Family,
So sorry for your loss
Heartfelt condolences for all! Sending love and hugs from Arizona.
I will miss the man I called “Uncle Butch”. Although I met him as an adult, he was kind and caring to me every time we were able to visit. He is one of the last of that special generation of parents, grandparents, and mentors that we have all learned so much from. Prayers to all of the family.

Myself, My sister Lori, and my brother Greg grew up just across from Butch and Kathy. We played countless summer hours with Mindy and John. Megan came a little later. A lot of weekend fun with the Cacciatore’s when they would visit. They were all part of our family. Butch was a bear of a man with the kindest heart and always a smile and a laugh for us. As we grew up and returned to visit, he was always sincerely happy to see us and interested in our lives as adults. Always a snack for us and coffee if we wanted it. It is sad to see him go, but we all know where he is and he will always be smiling down on us. Say Hi to my parents, Sam and Patty. I am sure you are all reunited in heaven. Love you Butch Stanko, you are missed already. Kirk Vasile
A definite champion! Butch has always been and always will be a special part of my heart.
The angels are giving him that soft touch on his cheek now.
