Karen Jean “Jeanne” Allen, 80, passed away April 28, 2024. Born on June 6, 1943, in Pueblo, to Josephine Roberts, who was a nurse in Pueblo and Frank Roberts, who retired with a long career in the US Air Force. Survived by her husband, John Allen, Rye; children, William B. Stytz, Lubbock, Texas and John D. Stytz of Gainsville, Florida; and her grandchild, Ian A. Stytz. Karen graduated from Pueblo Central High School and went on to receive her degree in Special Education. She also received her Masters degree in Counseling. She taught in the Denver School for Boys, as well as in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Los Alamos. She enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener, quilting, having received numerous trophies, and also enjoyed camping and cooking. She became the principal contributor to a student exchange program between the Los Alamos Schools, the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Russian counterpart of schools and laboratory, when relations between the countries in the 1980s were better.
