Born in: Espanola, New Mexico
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Julian Audelio Romero at age 76 passed away on August 22,2025 at 2:39 pm at home after a long struggle with PSP (Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy, a rare neurological disease.) Julian had a great spirit up to the end. He joked with family and friends, was loving and kind never losing his sense of humor. He took the inability to walk with determination and stamina. He got around from cane to walker to exercise at the Y machine to the wheelchair and finally full time bed with aplomb, but always mentioning, “I used to walk 4 miles every day.” He went from talking up a storm to speaking softly to not speaking at all. All part of the disease.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Romero; children, Jason (Charlene) Romero, and Sara (Brandon) Terrill; grandchildren, Jason Jesse (Cynthia) Romero, Manuel (Lexy) Romero, and Larissa Romero; great-grandchildren, Joaquin, Oliviniaya, Aquetzalli, and Pheonix Romero; siblings, Patsy (Steve) Velasquez, Leroy (Sally) Romero, Olivia Jenny (Gene) Trujillo,
Carmela (Maggie) Romero, Larry (Consuelo) Romero, Bobby (Amy) Romero, and Connie Romero; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Sr. and Juanita Romero; his siblings, Baby Sarah Romero, Reyes Romero, Dolores Garcia, and Carlitos Romero.

Julian was born on December 20, 1948 in Española, NM. He grew up in Tortilla Flats, in Montrose, Colo. His first job was at the sawmill in Montrose. He met his wife, Sherry in Montrose when they were both 20. They married August 30, 1969, enjoying 56 years of fulfilling married life. Julian earned his GED soon after and they had two wonderful children and moved to Pueblo, Colo. where he worked at DANA Corporation for many years and other jobs when DANA moved to Michigan.

Julian loved his family. He adored his kids and grandkids and great grandkids. One grandchild said he’s an “amazing and goofy man.” Perfect description! Julian loved to make family and friends laugh. He loved fishing and camping in the mountains. He loved his buddies that he would meet almost daily at McDonald’s. And he was all about get togethers with family and with the McDonald’s group. He was an amazing carpenter although he would humbly deny his ability. He made a bird mansion, a beautiful bench and another couple benches that matched his dining room table perfectly. He also made Broncos plaques. He learned all about football and the Broncos from his brother Leroy and became a huge Broncos fan, making Broncos boards and refinishing his truck to be a Broncos truck, a truck he loved. Julian loved his dogs from Coco and Ally to present dogs, Bella and Zoey. The dogs grew sad as Julian grew sicker. After retirement Julian and Sherry traveled to many places. Their favorite trip was going to New York with their grandsons, Jesse and Manuel.

We will honor Julian with a memorial Mass, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at St. Pius X Church, 3130 Morris Ave. Online condolences at www.MontgomerySteward.com
