John Oliver Mooring, 80, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2025. 

Services will be held Friday, March 21st, 2025, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel, 1317 North Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003 at 10:00 a.m. 

John was born May 31, 1944, to Thomas Mooring and Pauline Patterson Mooring in Clarendon, Texas. He married Sharon South, in 1964 in Amarillo, Texas, and they moved to Pueblo in 1965. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1965 to his retirement in 2006. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, who loved spending time with his family and was always on the sidelines to cheer on his children and grandchildren. He was the long-time president of the Pueblo Olympic Wrestling Association and spent many years working with young wrestlers. He loved trains, history, sports (especially wrestling), hunting, and horses. He was a friend and mentor to many, and everyone who knew him felt embraced by his kindness and generosity.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Pauline Mooring; his brothers, Glen, Frank, Jerrel, and Marvin Mooring; and his sister, Arline Mooring Beck.  

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-one years, Sharon South Mooring; children, Chad Mooring, Brett (Lori) Mooring, and Nicole (David) Henderson; grandchildren, Hunter(Shaleena), Raif, Griffin, Beau, Mason, Casey, Brady, and Johnny Mooring, and Tanner, Gavin, and Koryna Henderson; great-grandson. Colter Mooring; brother, Kenneth Mooring; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other extended family members, and many wonderful friends.
