Joan (McGovern) Anderson McCullah, 91, passed away December. 25, 2025. She is survived by her children, Mike (Tammy) McCullah, Greg (Paula) McCullah, Alan McCullah, Kim (Scott Hughes) McCullah, Christine (Liborio) Conti; ten grandchildren, Austin, Jack, Jesse, Cody, Torey, Darrell, Elena, Adrian, John, and Ashly; eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Andrew W. and Reha (Faricy) McGovern; husbands, Jack Anderson and Tom McCullah; brother, John McGovern; sisters, Virginia Marie McGovern and Mary Georg Rick.
Joan was born in Pueblo, Colorado on October 23, 1934. She graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1952. After graduation, Joan worked at the phone company prior to her marriage. Later, she worked as a physical therapy aide in Lamar, Colorado, Poway, California and Belen New Mexico. She was a Nurse Aide in Obstetrics at Prowers County Medical Center and St.-Mary Corwin Hospital. She graduated from Pueblo Community College with Registered Nurse degree and worked at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Florence. Joan also worked for Dr Larry Walls, and the Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Pueblo. She loved animals, roller skating, traveling, spending time with family and friends, sewing, gardening, and trips to Cripple Creek.
Member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she was a life member; Books Again; Eagles Aerie No. 145 Ladies Auxiliary; and was a life member of the Lamar Elks Club. She was a member of St. Leander Catholic Church; St. Partrick’s Catholic; Beulah Catholic Church; Holy Family Parish; The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church; St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar; and St. Mary Catholic Church. Joan taught religious education classes at various parishes and volunteered for SET and Step-Up in Pueblo.
Memorial Mass, 10:00 a.m.,Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 217 E. Mesa Avenue. There will be a reception in the church hall following the Mass. Private interment will be in the Beulah Cemetery.

Hi this is JoAnn Munoz, It was my pleasure to meet Joan and be her caregiver. Joan was a wonderful lady full of joy and happy memories of her children and grandchildren. Joan children and granddaughter really stepped up on giving their mother wonderful care and love. I miss you Joan, love you JoAnn Munoz
Joan and I worked together at hospice. She was an excellent nurse and was loved by our staff. Her patients were blessed to have been cared for such an elegant and skilled nurse.
