James “Jim” Cecil Spicer was born on August 6, 1956, to Ronald and Myrna Spicer in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He went home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2025, at the age of 69.
Jim graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs in 1974. After high school, he could often be found at the stock car track, racing his car, or building houses, showcasing his love for speed and craftsmanship. In 1976, Jim moved from Colorado Springs to Rye, Colorado, where he continued to embrace the beauty of nature and the outdoors.
In 1986, Jim met and married Debra Alexander, and together they raised two sons, Phillip and David.
Jim loved nothing more than early morning hunting trips in the mountains or out on the plains. He was never one to sit still, often walking the foothills and exploring the great outdoors. With a passion for fishing, Friday nights were often spent in San Isabel at the Lake. Jim was known to teach others, and share is acknowledged of fishing and hunting.
Family campouts were a cherished tradition for Jim, who was usually the one to set everything up. He treasured the time spent with his family and always made it a priority to be there when they needed him. Jim was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, being the spirit of a true friend.
Jim is preceded in death by, Debra Spicer; his father, Ron Spicer; and his nephew, Andrew Spicer. He is survived by his sons, Phillip and David Spicer; his mother, Myrna Spicer; his brother, Mike Spicer; his sister, Elaine Spicer; his nephew, Cody Spicer; and many family and friends.
Jim will be deeply missed and remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
Memorial service, 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at Rye United Methodist Church.
