Hylon (Hart) Weidner, 97, passed away on December 10, 2025. She was born on a snowy day in Sun City, Kansas, on March 16, 1928, to parents Lee Roy and Mary Augusta (Winnop) Hart. Shortly after Hylon was born, her twin sister, Helyn appeared. They had no idea twins were coming! Hylon and Helyn were best friends always.
Hylon grew up during the depression and World War II. She was musically talented and taught herself to play the piano. She took voice lessons in high school and sang solos frequently. Hylon met Glenn Weidner at Medicine Lodge in high school choir. They married when Glenn got out of the Navy, on September 29, 1946. They had three children, Linda, Steve, and Roger. They designed and built three houses, the first on the Weidner Farm in Southern Kansas, the next in Medicine Lodge, and the third in the Colorado City/Rye area.
Hylon was a faithful Christian, spending many hours at her churches, directing and singing in choirs, playing the organ for services, belonging and leading women’s groups. Glenn and Hylon designed and helped pay for the kitchen at the Colorado City Community Church and went on a Mexico mission trip in 1998. Hylon had many friends.
She was the bookkeeper for Glenn’s electric business. Glenn passed away in 2009, her sister Helyn in 2011. Her parents and brothers, Allen Hart and Paul Hart, and sisters Dorothy and Geneva have passed, too. One sister, Mary Margaret survives in Oklahoma.
Hylon leaves the following family to celebrate her life, Linda and Cal Regier, Steve and Marilyn Weidner, and Roger and Kathy Weidner; grandchildren, Sheri Spears, Mark Regier, David Weidner, Stephanie Weidner, Christ Weidner, and Michelle Stinson; and nine great-grandchildren.
Hylon was a woman of many talents. She could sew a formal or baby clothes, can beets and peaches, raise roses, garden, and shoot a rifle at an elk during hunting season. She said family was always important and nothing should break that relationship.
