Gale Valois, 81, passed from this world on April 26th, 2024. Her departure leaves behind cherished memories and an immeasurable legacy of love and kindness.

Gale lived a life rich in passion and adventure, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends were the cornerstones of Gale’s world, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. In 1977, Gale anonymously donated one of her kidneys to her brother. Only after surgery did he learn that his sister had given him the gift of life. Whether it was family camping trips along the river, a house full of rowdy teenagers as her kids were growing up, lively game nights filled with laughter, or festive holiday parties, Gale’s presence illuminated every occasion. Gale held a deep affection for animals both domestic and wild. She had many cats and dogs over the course of her life and found great joy in each of them. She often made friends with backyard birds and squirrels and once had a pet monkey named Mojo.

Gale worked many years as a waitress at the Crown Kitchen in Indiana. She was fond of her coworkers and customers and they enjoyed her quick wit and charm. Shortly after retiring to Colorado City, Gale found herself quite busy. She became a Weight Watchers leader, allowing her to inspire and empower others on their journey to better health and wellness.  She attended local coffee get-togethers and was soon writing a weekly column in the Greenhorn Valley View. Her column kept the community informed and entertained with the goings on. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond the written word as she volunteered tirelessly with various church and community initiatives. Gale passionately served as co-head of the Benevolence Committee at Valley Community Church for several years. She was a proud member of the American Legion Post 115 Auxiliary of Colorado City, where she found fulfillment in assisting with activities like bingo. Gale’s unwavering faith was a source of strength and solace throughout her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times.
