Born in: On a farm near Lebo, Kansas
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Frances (Woodward) Littau passed peacefully on March 9, 2026 at the age of 89, leaving
behind a legacy of faith, friends, and family. Born Frances Carolyn Woodward on a farm in the
plains of eastern Kansas, near Lebo, she grew up alongside her siblings, George, Walt, Irene,
and Pearl, riding horses with passion, helping with the farm, and caring for her younger siblings.
She was raised in a landscape defined not by mountains but by wide skies, rolling prairie,
agriculture, and the close bonds of family.
Frances shared a remarkable marriage of more than 71 years with her beloved husband, Irvin.
Together they built a life grounded in devotion, partnership, and family. Their marriage was a
source of strength and love that extended across generations, producing children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson all of whom Frances was deeply
proud. What began as a secret elopement, hidden from their families for two months,
blossomed into a beautiful marriage and a loving family.
She was the loving mother of five children: Linda, Marsha, Sandy, Sharla, and Luke. Her family
grew to include nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson each
of whom carried a special place in her heart. Frances found great joy in watching her family
grow and flourish, and she took pride in the generations that followed her.
Through her marriage she embraced the Lutheran faith, which became an important part of her
life and spiritual foundation. Frances taught Sunday school for more than 50 years, sharing her
love for the Lord with generations of children. She lived with quiet conviction and trust in God’s
grace. The words of Scripture reflected the faith that sustained her: “For we walk by faith, not by
sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Her faith provided comfort, guidance, and hope throughout her life.
Frances will be remembered for her steady presence, her devotion to family, and the values
shaped by the prairie communities that raised her—hard work, humility, faith, and love for those
around her. Frances was a loving homemaker and enjoyed her interactions with children as she
drove a school bus for District 70 for 34 years while also working with preschoolers. Though
she will be deeply missed, the life she built and the family she nurtured remain a lasting
testament to her strength and character.
She is survived by her loving husband, Irvin; her children, Linda Potter, Marsha (Chuck Goin)
Littau, Sharla (Tom) Hochstetler, and Luke Littau; her many cherished grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; as well as all who were blessed to know and love
her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Evangeline Woodward; brother,
George Woodward; daughter, Sandy Heins; grandson, Dusty Swander; and great-grandson, Levi
Ranson.
Her family takes comfort in the promise of faith and the enduring words of the Christian hope: “I
am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John
11:25).
